As far as i know the first character skins that come available is when you complete the game or/and collect the 9 disc parts (which you only can do when you completed the game).

There are various unlockable character skins, and for the trophy you simply need to unlock and equip one of them. The earliest you can unlock this trophy is after earning 116 stars

You’ll be able to change your skin after completing the story (which means getting 116 stars). Go to the “Costume Dept” room located to the extreme left of the “Lobby” room and equip any of the available skins. The trophy will pop right after.

You must complete the game and then go to the Character Equip section to load a new character. You don't need 3 stars on all the levels, just need to complete them.
