To make this easier, make sure to change the number of lives in the game settings to 5 and enable Round select to make this a breeze. Now you can start any round you reached so far with 5 extra lives so no need to conservative. On the later rounds using the power pellets as ghost deterrent is a great way to clear pellets. Also, don't bother with the high score but focus on beating the Rounds one at the time.
