Hey Mort, this is exactly what I did:
- Purchased a brand new (2012) Emdem Lotz at the Car Salon,
- Constructed an I3 DOHC engine at the stand in the second room (where you fix things) and removed it from the stand - it was mostly new parts at 100% but I noticed when I installed it a few spark plugs were at 95% or so, probably doesn't matter,
- Removed the I4 DOHC turbocharged engine from the car using the stand in the main room,
- Installed the I3 DOHC engine into the car.
Achievement popped as soon as I put the second engine in. No need to finish the job.
This may not be the best car to do it with but it worked for me. Good luck!

@Rossco7530 my game must be bugged or something, I swear. Did exactly what you did, but nothing. I swear I ain't dumb either lmao, I know how to follow instructions and I've got 40 hours in this game so far so I know what I'm doing in it. I'm gonna try uninstalling and reinstalling the game, who knows, that might work.

Still nothing. Uninstalled and redownloaded game, did the same steps again. Man, I don't know why this won't unlock for me after countless engine swaps

@Mort you need to put in a different engine.
I took out a I4 DOHC BFM from a Griffin Tyro and put in a I3 DOHC.
This worked for me.

Out of interest Mort did you use the profile name to get level 36 and all the cash? I cant get this to unlock either (or the 10 car parks even though i have 30!) and im wondering if this might be why

I did it both ways. The legit way from level 1 (currently level 46 on that save) and the promo code save. Can’t get it to unlock on either save.

I’ve tried this on my Xbox and two separate computers and this achievement just won’t unlock. Like I’ve never ever had this much trouble for an achievement in my 13 years of achievement hunting. Is this bugged for me or am I doing something wrong? I have watched videos, checked out guides on pstrophies and the steam forums. Nothing is working and I’ve just about had it with this achievement 😒

Unbelievable what just happened… decided to go on my alt account. Used the cms2021promo to get to level 36 and 500k cash. Got the achievements for upgrades and level 5 and 20 (this confirms promo code doesn’t void achievements). Figured what the hell… let’s try engine swap on this account. The achievement unlocked on my alt account… what the ffff. Why did it unlock on my alt but not the account I need it on?!

Take the original engine out. build a swappable engine in the other room and take it off. Move the engine stand in front of the car and chose to install, achievement unlocked.

@Mort maybe you play on Sandbox difficulty. "Achievements are disabled in this mode."
Try it with a new game

If i get all the others and not this one ill delete my save from my console, launch the game, not sync save and try it that way, otherwise we might be screwed

Popped when i loaded to the main menu just now, see there was a game update so that might have done it... now for the car parks

Yep same... got it to pop at main menu after loading game up. Seems it was bugged for some reason for some people. Achievement should be obtainable now for everyone.

I feel like me contacting the devs might have helped 😅

can you describe exactly how you got it? I've been at this achievement for hours and it will not pop. I check the engine info on a car to see which engine it can be swapped with. Use the engine crane, engine builder etc. Swap out the old engine with the new and no achievement. Have done this with many cars today and it's not popping.
