How to unlock the The Mechanic achievement in Car Mechanic Simulator 2021 - Definitive Guide
This is a copy of the guide I put on the pc site, so yes, I have recorded these methods on pc, but there is no reason they won't work on console as well. Please note that these guides don't make use of glitches (powering off console etc), so it's a legitimate way to maximise your XP farming.
UPDATED: Go to method 3 for the fastest legit way to level up.
Also, there is music in the background of these videos as I like to make farming this game a bit less monotonous with music, but if you don't like the music, just mute the video :)
Anyway, here are a couple of videos to help earn you some extra XP to help you get to level 50 a bit faster.
At the time of writing, I have not reached Level 50 yet, but these methods are definitely helping to level up faster.
First video is more helpful for those who are just starting out in the game, & the second is my preferred XP farming method, which is to go to examine parts on cars.
First method:
Unlock & use diagnostic tool. These will net you 1XP for each part examined, which is handy when you are starting out in the game, so focus on getting them unlocked as quickly as you can when you are starting out.
Second method:
Updated: This method is, in my opinion, much faster than the first method. Examine parts on cars. This works on barn & junkyard cars, but the auctions are the place to go. Go for the better quality cars as they tend to be complete (not missing parts like barn/junkyard cars) & manually examine as many parts as you can. You can examine as many cars as you like in the auctions, but you can only examine each car once, once the auction for that car has ended, you cannot go back to it.
Take note that the more parts a car has, the more XP you'll get from it, so I tend to focus on cars with a lot of parts (for example, V8 engine cars or complex cars like the Nissan GTR).
Once you've scanned as many parts as you can, as pointed out by "I dilux I", press b to back out to the car selection screen again (or start the auction if you actually want to buy the car) & move onto another car. Rinse & repeat.
Note, I had my "eagle eye" perk fully upgraded to shorten the time needed to scan, but this is not essential. It's still tedious, but just a bit faster. Happy farming.
Third method:
This is the fastest method to farm XP
As mentioned below in the comments, another method is to use crates to XP farm. Credit to piranha poodles for mentioning this method.

The fastest method by far is to go to the junkyard, find a barn location, then go to the barn and find a case. Now save your game. Open the case, if you do not get XP bonus, reload your save and try again. The entire process takes between 4-8 minutes for a bonus of worth 500-900XP. Using this method, I was able to get 12 cases in one hour, with an XP bonus for each case getting me from level 47-50 in an hour

after you examined a car at the auction you dont have to start the auction. simply press B and you are back at the car selection screen. might speed up things a little bit.

Very good point I dilux I. Thank you for the feedback, will update the solution above to match what you have said.

At the time of writing I'm still slowly working on this one but there is a way I found that is both very annoying and guaranteed to get some extra xp. This isn't meant to be done as your only method but it adds to the other stuff you do to get the levels. When you get crates from anywhere save before opening them. Open and if you don't get the green xp card dashboard and quit without accepting or saving the rewards. Reload and your crate is back. Rinse, repeat, and cry because it's so slow. Again add this to another method of your choice such as jobs, restoration, or buying cars just to examine parts and sell. Every barn and junkyard visit is guaranteed to have a single crate somewhere in the junk piles.

Junkyards only have maps and barns have crates.

The fastest option is to open chests, you can get them for completing an order or find them in a barn
- we take light orders, for replacement of liquids or with an exhaust system, we get chests, also in the barn there is always 1 chest
It's very easy to level up this way
