Capture all enemy souls with Kari Hudo

2.8%

How to unlock the The best, like no one ever was. achievement in Cris Tales - Definitive Guide

Late in the game, you will be able to recruit a black mage named Kari Hudo. She has the ability to capture and summon monsters.
You only need to capture one variety of monster for each item below. Example, to get “Wulf”, you can just capture one of these three: Azure Pup, Azure Wulf, Azure Pack Leader (These monsters look like wolf).

1. Goblin – Crystallis (you got this automatically)
2. Muka - Evergreen Forest in Narim
3. Fomage - Evergreen Forest in Narim
4. Wulf - Ancient Salt Ruins in Neva Tulira
5. Wildfire - Ancient Salt Ruins in Neva Tulira
6. B-Knight - Museum in Neva Tulira
7. St. Clarity Guard - St. Clarity Sewers/Rainbow Lake
8. Slime - Ancient Salt Ruins in Neva Tulira/Rainbow Lake
9. Doppleganger - Salt Mine in Neva Tulira.
10. Vitrue - Any of the 4 underground passages

To see which monsters you have capture, just use Kari Hudo in battle. Under her summon skill, you will see all the names you have.
* To get to Evergreen Forest, go to Wilhelms’ house in Narim and continue walking to the right.
* To enter Salt Mine in Neva Tulira, enter the cathedral on the west side of the map. Turn left to get to an area with a fireplace and enter the southwest entrance.
* The entrance to Ancient Salt Ruins is a different entrance from the above (but also located near the fireplace - top left)
* The museum in Neva Tulira is in town.
* Rainbow lake is to the north of Neva Tulira. You get there by riding the big shoe.
* The underground passages will be available very late in the game. You can access it after you deactivate all 4 terminals. Vitrue is a type of big rock enemy (golem).

Note: After the patch, all monsters needed for this achievement will appear normally regardless of your choice in the early stage of the game. So don’t worry, this achievement is not missable.

How the heck do you capture a Muka and Fomage? They are so low leveled they die in one hit. But without lowering their health the Soul Harvest doesn't work...misses every time.
It's a stupid conundrum.

Nvm...I should have continued with the story. Didn't realize you have to come back to the Forest in a different part of it where the Fomages, etc are higher leveled.

Been at it for 1 hour now,and that doppleganger just wont spawn for me. Hmm,maybe I have to progress as well and go back later? Have 1 terminal left to disable.

Edit: I fought them all along without knowing it was those transform dudes. Baah, wasted around 2 hours on this. Did not know they had to transform before you could capture.

You will also encounter everything in COLOSSUM, so no point in running around like a crazy nut really

St Clarity Guard
B-Knight
Wulf
Fomage
Wildfire
Vitrue

***Salt Mimic

Salt Mimics disappear from the Salt Mines if you get the best ending and complete "Setting the Basses" In Neva Tulira. Researching but you may have to branch a bad ending save in order to get them all in one playthrough.

I didn’t find this out until later so I don’t have an earlier save. I wonder if this is a bug or working as intended. Either way I guess I won’t be completing this anytime soon since this is the last achievement I need.

I would guess intentional just to pump another playthrough out of people. I only CHOSE to play this 14 hours. I am now on mandatory hour 30 i think.

I confirmed that Salt Mimics disappear from the Salt Mines only if you complete the "Setting the Basses". Because I forgot to finish one quest from Dreena and I can choose to donate for University only. It's Salt Mimics still disappear.

According to patch 1.02 patch notes, the bug should be fixed and monsters should not disappear anymore. This would make it possible to get everything in one run. Haven't tested it yet, though.

I can confirm that salt mimics now still appear when you return, so you can get this on a single playthrough.

I’m walking around the salt mines after the patch and they’re still not appearing, is there a specific spot or something?

This discussion here suggests that the patch only applies to new save files. So, it's worthless if you started the game before the patch...

Thank goodness I kept a save right before completing Setting the Bases. Hopefully if I buy the Distortion Ring and rush through, the rest of the game won't take nearly as long as the first time.

B-Knight - Located inside the museum in Neva Tulira

I started the game before the patch, but just now continued playing and finished the "setting the bases" side quest and can confirm the enemies continue to spawn inside the mines.

Then I would say what matters is if you have completed "Setting the Bases" before or after the patch. I completed this quest before the patch, and the encounters were still missing for me.

Kari Hudo has a unique battle mechanic that allows her to use the ability of monsters she has captured. You can only capture them when they are at low health, so do a normal attack or two first before using her soul capture option in battle. She starts with Muka and Goblin when you recruit her, and you will need to capture the following souls to unlock the achievement (with the closest available location to the end of the game):

  • Slime - Ancient Salt Ruins
  • Wulf - Ancient Salt Ruins
  • Wildfire - Ancient Salt Ruins
  • Doppleganger - Salt Mine
  • St. Clarity Guard - St. Clarity Sewers
  • Fomage - Evergreen Forest
  • B-Knight - Museum in Neva Tulira
  • Vitrue - Underground Passages
Once you have captured each enemy type, the achievement will unlock.

You only need to lasso 10 enemies:
Goblin , fomag , flour , slime , wolf , teratomorph (aka doppel), St. Clerity guard , wild fire (these are wasps), glass block/golem/statue and soldier of knights B (i.e. Neva-Talira guard) .

The easiest way to find and catch the first nine is in the Colosseum challenge, which will become available towards the end of the game in the Wandering Trader menu. For the latter you will have to go to the Neva-Talira Museum - you will get caught in one of the random battles.
PS: There is no need to replay part of the game and rollback saves, because... in the current version, the teratomorph can be found not only in salt mines.
