I did this in Survival mode, starting from normal, with the No Ammo and Swarm challenges on for 3x points.
Points will build up slowly initially, but the goal here is to get through the early rounds with some good skills. Get some into score related ones (% score increase, less damaging combo breakers). When you get to the Hard/Extreme rounds, I strongly consider anything that buffs Lash, Dash, and reflection damage. You'll want to be Lash-Dashing everything which will kill most Spiders with one hit.
Don't be too disheartened if you die. The later on in Survival you are, the bigger your points hauls will be. I died at 300m and then 600m and it only took a few waves to build my score back up which was a fraction of the time it took the first time around.
