How to unlock the It's All About Timing achievement in Dark Alliance - Definitive Guide

Firstly, how to get a parry is "It's All About Timing". To do this you want to have an enemy attacking you and JUST before their attack would land on you, you should tap or press cn_LB and this will not only block the attack but also stun your opponent.

Not all enemies can be parried though. Good enemies for this would be the cultists. (The guys in robes that float and have double daggers) They're good for this because their attacks are very predictable and they attack often.

An example as to where you may find these are in the 4th main area of the story (The order of the one light) focused around the cultists or at the earliest you will find them towards the end of your first mission after the tutorial (Act 1 of Companions of Icewind Dale - Goblins at the gate). You will find them surrounding a cage, it'll be easiest to accomplish this by taking the enemies down to only 1 or 2 cultists so that it's easier to engage without becoming overwhelmed. Now just get to timing your blocks and good luck!

Edit: According to one of the commenters, TAB is your block/parry button if you're on pc :)

Edit 2: A lot of people keep asking me to mention the tutorial. This is a valid option if you want it to take a LOT longer unless you just can't seem to hit your parries at all. You don't get to parry as often although it is a lot safer. This is not the method I use or recommend unless you can't parry well.

If like me you are playing on the PC version using mouse and keyboard, to parry you need to press the Tab button just before the enemy hits you

I have really bad timing but found rapidly pressing block with the dwarf works most of the time.

I found this to be annoying but easy to complete in the first dungeon of the order of light. The very first group of 4 enemies you come to I just backed up against the wall near the barrel and just tapped LB with no regard for timing. It was rough on the LB button and my finger but popped the cheevo after about an hour of barely paying attention using level 20 Bruenor on difficulty 4. I was getting about 50 parries for every 4 health potions and then respawn, run down the hill and do it again.

Let’s update the solution to direct people to the tutorial as it’s way more effective

I disagree that the tutorial is more effective. You have to get all the characters to level 20 to unlock those achievements. During that time you'll be blocking and parrying throughout the game. Why do extra work when you dont have to. I'd only go to tutorial to finish blocking and parries if I was completely done with everything else.

The tutorial is safer and easier for ppl who suck at parrying or don’t have the patience to time the parrying & also can be done just playing the game whatever your strat is doesn’t really matter happy hunting boys & girls

For sure. This path is a little more skill oriented but will get you there quicker if you've got it!

After regular gameplay i hit 50 parrys i think.
When i come the the area in the 4th Main Mission i give it a try.
My parry skills are very bad and when the enemys attacked me i smashed LB (3 guys with dagger) after round about 45 minutes the chevo poped.
Done it wit the dwarf with lvl 8 and battlestrenght of 2124. Difficulty Was Set to 1

Please include the actual names of the area and mission act, instead of using 1st or 4th. That will help avoid confusion, because once you play the campaign all areas are unlocked and you can no longer see the order.

Also, use paragraphs.

Just some ideas. Your choice.

If you want 500 parries, do it solo on difficulty 1 or 2, because there's a severe delay while online making it near difficult to time the parry, plus teammates who are in a hurry interrupting your fight.
Just take your time in each battle. Try and get 1 parry per enemy, collect all the gold, shards and items, and then finish the mission to collect. You'll be done sooner than you think. Keep at it.
