How to unlock the Stacking the Deck achievement in Dead Island 2 - Definitive Guide
This will come naturally as you play since there are far more than 30 skill cards in the game.
Skills cards are separated into “innate” (forget the real name) which you start with and can’t be swapped out. Innate skills don’t count. Then there’s Abilities (you start with a few, unsure if your starters count), Survivor, Slayer, and Numen. These all count.
You get skill cards in three primary ways: leveling up, completing certain quests, and from finding them in the environment (most are hard to miss and they include a glow that makes them even more visible, so long as you try to suck up everything you walk past you’ll get all but maybe one or two).
This achievement is for total collected cards, not what you equip and there’s way more than 30 in the game. Since it depends when you do side quests and how much you level in an area before moving on it’s hard to say exactly when you’ll get this but if you’re doing most side quests as you encounter them it’s likely you’ll have this by the end of Venice Beach or sometime in the first half of Ocean Avenue.
Note the preorder pack comes with one card, I don’t know when a player might receive this but players (like me) who don’t have it will have one uncollected skill card blank spot for Survivor skills after they’ve collected everything else. The preorder card should count since there is a space for it.

Initially, you’re granted a handful of innate and random Skill Cards, and as you complete Quests you’ll earn more. Some can be found on certain Apex Variants, like Screamers, Slobbers, and Crushers, while others are tucked away in specific places. Like Journals, Skill Cards emit a distinctive white glow, so be sure to grab them whenever you see one.
In all likelihood, you’ll have far more than 30 Skill Cards way before the credits roll on the story as you receive Skill Cards every time you level up.
