I don't believe there is any RNG here, but this is 1 of 2 bosses that you encounter on the first level.
At the end of the level, there is a split in the path. Clearing the lower path takes you to the Asteroid Destroyer for this achievement.
This boss shoots slow moving orbs that will accelerate at times, cutting off your escape.
I beat this boss on my first try by simply dodging it's attacks and constantly shooting from about half a screen away.
Don't hesitate to use your special weapons on the first half of the combat, as the second half of the combat the boss will be above you, which means many weapons cannot hit them.

The Asteroid Destroyer is one of two bosses in the first level. This one is at the end of the lower path when it splits.
Because it's the first level, this boss won't be too difficult to take down. Just be mindful of the asteroids flying around. If you break them up, they have a chance to drop power-ups that will aid you in the actual fight. The boss starts off on the far right side and will move vertically. Stay on the far left of the play area as after a few seconds, he'll rush towards you but will stop at about the 3/4 mark and slowly make his way back to the right. Just keep shooting him to burn him down. When he gets to 50%, he'll move to the top of the play area and will begin shooting groups of orbs down. Dodge these accordingly and fire at him when you get an opening. Burn him down and when he's been defeated, the trophy will unlock.
