How to unlock the Vegetable Farmer achievement in Hokko Life - Definitive Guide

To clear up some obvious, but not so clear confusion, fruits can also be grown in the ground like Pineapples, so you may think you have 16 vegetables, but really only have 15 + 1 fruit. That detail tripped me.

My merit says I've grown 16 types of vegetables but the achievement hasn't popped.
Am I missing something or is it glitched?

Best I can say is try to grow different types of vegetables. Maybe the game classifies a vegetable as a fruit for the achievement but not the merit.
