How to unlock the Abundance of Ability achievement in Legend of Mana - Definitive Guide

In this game you may notice the abilities you have in your skill menu. Each ability does something different, but they all tend be movement focused. You do start with 8 of them, but in order to earn this trophy, you need to learn all 26.

While it doesn't specify in game, in order to learn more abilities you need to gain experience through a hidden point system which is added to equipped abilities as you win battles. Each new ability requires enough points in other abilities to unlock it. Once you gain enough points and finally win a battle with the prerequisite abilities, the new one will unlock.

Abilities are the skills you can equip in the character menu and are tied to the button-y.png and button-b.png buttons in combat. To learn new abilities, you must equip and finish a battle with specific other abilities a set number of times. This does not mean you have to use the ability that many times, nor does it even mean you need to use the ability in the battle you complete. Simply equip the ability and complete a battle in any fashion to get credit. See the list below of the abilities and how to unlock them. Once you have all these unlocked, begin swapping them out to work on Master-at-Arms (60G) as well, which requires using these a set number of times to unlock various Special Techniques.

  • Grapple → Defend (6) and Push (10)
  • Whirl → Spin (8) and Grapple (3)
  • Catapult → Push (7) and Whirl (4)
  • Somersault → Jump (7) and Lunge (12)
  • Back-Roll → Jump (7) and Backstep (12)

There are only 26 skills in the game. At the start you will have 8 skills. To get the rest you need to collect the required number of victory points for each of the skills. For each battle you are given 1 point from ordinary mobs and 4 from bosses for the skill that was selected in the layout for this battle. These points are hidden from the player, and there is no way to know how many points have been accumulated for each skill. Two skills can be selected at the same time, so when you receive a certain skill, you need to change the combination. Below is a list of skills that need to be combined and the number of points to get them.

Grapple - Defend x6, Push x10;
Whirl - Spin x8, Grapple x3;

The easiest way is to do it in a location where there are 1-2 weak mobs, exit by entering and killing. I farmed in caves. Two skills are important for passing - flip kick and health replenishment. The first combos well and deals damage, the second will help you survive bosses
