How to unlock the Short Fuse achievement in PAYDAY 2 - Definitive Guide
Then Start the Rat Job, preferably with a low Cops Rating. On Day 1 just blow up the Meth Lap and run back to the Van. On Day 2 just search for the Safe and run back to Van.
On Day 3, the Bus Stop, everyone should stay at two opened Money suitcase and the Bus Windows should be destroyed. One should stay near the Bus exit, then count down to three and then everyone pick up two Bags and throw it out the Window and run out of the Bus.
This maybe take you a a couple of attempts, but its not that hard ;)
Simply clear out the highway up to the bus and clear the bus. Open up all the cases on the bus but DO NOT touch the cash until everyone is ready.
The goal, get 7 bags of cash off the bus in about 10 seconds. The ghost trait that allows for faster bag pickup is a huge help and is only 5 points down the ghost tree. When you grab the first bag, a bomb will be on a short fuse timer, so everyone must do it at once.
When everybody is ready, everyone pick up a bag, throw one bag out of the bus door, and grab the 2nd bag and hold onto it. If everybody gets the bags off, make sure to count and throw 7 into the chopper that comes in about 2 minutes. Make sure not to miss the chopper, as its easy to throw it off the door and miss.
If you get less than 7, everybody get on the burning bus and die, and restart.
Its not hard, just requires cooperation. Took my group like 20 tries lol.
Today, I joined a random session by hoping to get the Caribbean Pirate achievement. People started talking, so did I. Then we did a couple of other achievements. When we were about to do Short Fuse, we realized that only two of us have the skills to get the bags quickly. Lucky for us, we succeeded. I and some other guy had the required skills and the other two didn't. How we did it was like this: The host begins counting from 1 to 3, on 3 we should pick up the bags. When he said two, the people without skills started taking. On ~2.7 seconds the others started too. We got away with 8 bags. I failed to throw my two bags out of the windows, but I had the fast hands skill, I took one, threw it out, took the other one and KEPT IT WITH ME. I got downed, but my teammates revived me.
Short Fuse is one of the few (if not the only) achievements that truly requires 4 players in Payday 2
Unfortunately players who are running the optional "Bane has an update for us..." free DLC cannot play with those who don't.
It isn't quite as simple as uninstalling this DLC just to do this specific achievement, once this DLC is installed the existing player data can't be reverted back (*tested*, i assume due to extra content such as new guns / different version etc etc)
*I added some further thoughts on this at the end*
You could specify everyone have this DLC installed before your session, but unfortunately this makes another grindy achievement even harder...... Most Wanted
This Bain update removes the ability to restart completed missions, which makes the common TA solution for the Level 100 "Most Wanted" achievement obsolete (so no easy Rats EXP exploit for you!!!)
Refer here for more info on "Most Wanted", in particular note Segendary Ty's comments RE the Bane Update
Many achievement hunters on TA will be opting to use the pre-patch version for the EXP exploit, simply because Most Wanted is likely to be the last achievement most people aim for.
My personal suggestion is that Short Fuse be something you aim for sooner rather than later, and well before considering installing the Bane DLC (if you install it at all).
For those of you wondering what the key Pros/Cons of this "Bane" update are, here's a brief summary of what I found for us achievement folk
- The above exploit is patched with missions now giving more EXP *EXPLOIT IS STILL QUICKER!!*
- Allows the addition of further paid DLC (Armoured Heists, Gage Packs), none of which add achievements
- Patches "invisible" cuffed guards, which was handy for those folk after "Guessing Game" on Firestarter Day 2
- Escapes by all accounts happen more often and are varied as a general rule, with patch notes also referring to decreases on some missions (so this may help or hinder those after escapist achievements).
So pretty well all downsides here, full patch notes from this particular update are listed here
Payday 2 Announces Big Update
TL;DR
- If you haven't already, DO NOT install the Bane Update
- To avoid anguish, it is worth noting if you're session does or does not require the Bane Update so everyone can play together
Cheers and Happy Hunting
P.S.
One other theory for those looking to revert to pre-patch, you could look at transferring save data to another device and wiping the Bane DLC game/updates from your console.
This potentially could allow you to start a fresh character, unlock fasthands perk, do the achievement and then reimport the data after the fact.
As i haven't tried this method I cannot personally recommend it as you could lose all progress if incorrect, any commentary here would be appreciated.
You will have to complete day 1 & 2 of the Rat job to play day 3 in Crime.net. This achievement is MUCH easier with 4 players, especially if you all have the Fast Hands skill under the Ghost skill tree. It is also highly recommended that all players have the Transporter skill under the Enforcer tree. Purchasing the Ace Pilot asset will reduce the amount of time you have to hold out and guard the loot before the loot helicopter arrives.
Once the mission starts, all players should make their way down the freeway to the bus. If you take the sidewalk on the left, you can pretty much just sprint your way there. Kill everyone on the bus and then open all the money cases BUT DO NOT PICK UP ANY OF THE MONEY. Have each player pick two cases and position themselves to get ready to loot two money bags each. One player counts down from 3, then everyone loots a bag, throws it outside (through a window or door) then straight away loot the second bag and sprint through the door outside. Don't bother throwing the second bag as the bus will explode resulting in failure. If successful, you will have recovered 8 bags, one more than what is needed for the achievement. It is likely that one or more of you will be downed while trying to escape. Don't worry, just pick each other up and get moving again.
You'll have to wait for the loot helicopter to arrive so you can toss the loot onto it. Go ahead and start moving the bags about halfway back to the spawn point and on the left side outside of the barriers. Be careful not to toss any bags into the water. Once the pickup helicopter arrives, throw all the bags into it. Do not miss, this is why the transporter skill is helpful in being able to throw bags further. Achievement will unlock once everyone escapes.
Alternatively, throw 4 bags onto the loot helicopter, and carry the other 4 (one each) back to the escape vehicle. When you escape, you'll get credit for any bags being carried.
This is the only trophy in the game that requires other players. It is possible to do with 3 players, but is very difficult, so I recommend you do this with 4 players. Before you do this, make everyone has Fast Hands Ace in the Ghost tree, as it will make things considerably easier. Before you start, it is recommended you buy the Ace Pilot asset, as this will make the loot helicopter arrive in 2 minutes as opposed to 4, so you won't have to fight for as long.
- Once you start, clear out the bus of Mendozas, then open all the suitcases but don't touch the money.
- Once all cases are open, have each player find a section of the bus where they have at least 2 piles of money in front of them. Once everyone is in position, start bagging at the same time (headsets are recommended for a countdown), then immediately throw your bags out the door.
- Once the first set of bags are out, bag a second bag and either throw it out or run out with it on your back. If you all started at the same time, you should easily manage at least 7 bags, if not 8.
- Make sure all the bags are out of the bus when it blows up, if one is on your back when it blows up you'll lose it!
- With all the bags, wait for the loot helicopter to arrive, then throw them into the helicopter. Make sure you don't accidentally throw them into the ocean! Once you get 7 bags into the helicopter, you'll all receive the trophy.
If you decide to do this with 3 players, it will require a bit luck. To do it, one player must first pick up a bag of cash and have no C4 spawn underneath it. Only a few of the piles of money aren't booby-trapped, which is why it's luck-based. Once you manage to get one bag without triggering an explosive, throw it out the door and then have all players start bagging at the same time. From there, it's the same as the above process.
Recommended skills for doing this are: Fast Hands Ace (Ghost Tier 2). Other helpful skills include Transporter Ace (Enforcer Tier 1) and Inside Man (Mastermind Tier 2).
In order to buy the contract on Crime.net, Rats costs between $237,500 (Normal) and $950,000 (Overkill Pro) from your off-shore account.
