How to unlock the Across a Sea of Stars achievement in R-Type Final 2 - Definitive Guide

You get this for playing every stage. There are seven stages, but there are three versions of stages 6 & 7, so once you've played all ELEVEN, this unlocks. Actually, it unlocked for me at the end of stage 6.2, just before I played 7.2 (the last one I needed).

If you're wondering how to play the various stages:
Stages 1-5 are always the same.
Just before the stage 5 boss, a weird little submarine will appear, and drop four coloured polyhedron things. Whatever colour you choose determines the stages you will play next.
Pink = 6.0 7.0
Orange = 6.1 7.1
Green = 6.2 7.2
Grey = random (I think!)

EDIT: According to FLEEBS, it looks like the game is simply counting how many different stages you've played, so with the addition of the DLC stages, you now might get away with just playing eleven different stages.

Somehow, the above solution is not completely accurate. Well, at least if you have the DLC. I have not completed all of the extra stages in the main game, but I have completed several of the DLC stages. The cheevo popped for me after I completed one of the DLC stages tonight. It’s possible with the addition of the DLC stages the solution is to complete eleven different stages.
