You need to defeat the final boss of the Azure Grotto DLC level with a Diffusion Wave Cannon.
I used ship #9, the R-9C WARHEAD to do this.
You might be able to use #2 R-9A2 DELTA, which has the Diffusion Wave Cannon Prototype, but I haven't tried that.
The final shot that defeats the boss must be from the wave cannon (hold
to charge, then release to fire). If you fire the wave cannon, but the shot that kills the boss is from something else (missiles, perhaps), then you'll have to do it again. When I got this, I had the wave cannon fully charged (maximum High), but the achievement doesn't specify that, so a lesser charge might do.
You can do this in Practice difficulty, and you can also use Score Attack so that you start fully tooled-up.
