You can do this in Score Attack mode, so that you start with full power-ups.
You can also play on any difficulty, even Practice.
Just make sure you finish off the boss (the second one that appears behind you) with the SP weapon (press
). You will have to get full DOSE, however, but on the lower difficulties, it's very easy to do: just kill as many things as possible by ramming the Force into them.
Beware that on Practice difficulty, the boss is VERY easy to kill. I only shot it in the weak spot once or twice with a red laser, and then activated the SP weapon to kill it. Stop shooting after you've activated SP in case the game registers another shot as the killing blow.
