How to unlock the Flawless R-TYPER achievement in R-Type Final 2 - Definitive Guide
"Forewarned is forearmed" is a truism that has applied to every iteration of R-Type since the original 1987 arcade game. Once you have memorized the levels, and know which ship suits you best for each one, then you should be able to get this achievement.
For this achievement, you have to get through all seven levels without being hit. To be honest, at this difficulty, there are only half a dozen places where you could feasibly die and still stand a chance at progressing (since you start each life without any power-ups) so it's probably easier to do this in one life than to complete it after losing a life.
In my videos below, I'm taking the 6.2/7.2 route, as I think it's the easiest one. I'll be changing ships between levels (press at the level end screen), mainly using the LEO2 and the SLEIPNIR.
R-Typer difficulty isn't that much more difficult than Normal. There are a few extra enemies here and there, and if you let them live long enough, they'll fire a few extra bullets at you, but like I've said, if you've memorized the levels well enough, they won't live long enough.
Experiment with the various ships (you might as well, if you're going for the completion, since you have to get 1000 levels completed without dying). Find the one that you think works best for each level, or just follow my suggestions below.
In the videos below, I'm playing Score Attack in all but the first. Score Attack always starts you off with the red weapon. In a normal playthrough, I'd be starting stages 2-5 with the blue weapon, but I pick up the blue weapon pretty early in each video.

It's the order off levels and ships i prefer.
Stage 2 you have safe zone left up in boss fight with charge attack hold.
Stage 3 one hard spot where dodge incoming bullets from the turrets.
Stage 4 small opening you have to squeeze quickly very precise.
Stage 5 hard and annoying boss I recommend safe energy and use special.
You have levels to do this on R-TYPER.
Stage 6 if still alive you have pod charge effect use maximum charge and releases to kill turrets in the rotating circles.
Stage 7.2 part with lot of bydo in wall formation can be hard to get past consistent keep practicing.
I got 1,4303,507 points
Keep practicing levels even if means play same level 20 times to learn.
Took me around 3000 attempts dying restarting before I got 1credit run.
I recommend playing 1 time a day minimum try and be consistent in the levels.
If you make mistakes they most likely happen at the points mentioned above.

Do I have to beat the whole game in one sitting without getting hit or can you get this by mission select in score attack aswell ? Is there something like a mission select ?
