Step one is to get promoted to Admiral:


Then, to be promoted from Admiral to Fleet Admiral, you need to satisfy the following additional requirements:

• 300 stages cleared on R-TYPER difficulty or above
• 50 stages cleared on R-TYPER 2 or higher difficulty without dying
• 11 different stages completed on R-TYPER 3 difficulty or higher

For the first two of these, you could repeatedly replay whatever stage you find easiest, but the third will require you to complete 11 distinct stages. DLC stages are allowed, and you can use Score Attack or the main game mode.

At time of writing (Sept 2022), the achievements aren't unlocking yet, but will hopefully start working once the next update for the next DLC set (#8) is released.

Also, beware, this is currently a bit buggy. If you replay a stage on a lower difficulty (after completing it on R-TYPER 3 difficulty), it will probably reduce your progress counter until you redo it on R-TYPER 3.

Top tip for grinding the first two requirements ... customize a Last Dancer with the Giga Wave Cannon, Enhanced Homing Missiles and Tentacle Force and play stage 1.0 over and over on R-TYPER 3 difficulty. At the start, move your ship to the far left, then briefly tap right to open up the tentacle force (this will create a giant shield, protecting you from pretty much everything). You don't need to move again. Just hold X to charge the wave cannon, and release it at four intervals, immediately charging it again afterwards.
1) When the first large grey robot enemy appears.
2) When the large red robot enemy appears (be fast, don't let it shoot back!)
3) Just before you crash into the floating infected ship (must be BYDO level charge)
4) When the little alien pokes it's head out of the end of level boss for a one-shot kill (again, must be BYDO level charge).
