How to unlock the Far, Far Away... achievement in Rocket League - Definitive Guide

Every time you start a new match after booting up the game, the achievement progress goes up 2%.

I force closed the game, booted it up again and loaded an exhibition match. As soon as I started driving the achievement progress increased by 2%. A great way to boost if you're near the end of the achievement.

TL;DR Boot up game, load exhibition match, drive, force close game. Rinse and repeat.

EDIT: THIS SOLUTION DOESN'T APPEAR TO WORK ANYMORE. THIS SOLUTION IS FOUR YEARS OLD AFTER ALL...

When I had every other achv I was only at 22%, and I got to 100% this way in about 20 minutes. Load the game with the achv app snapped, exhibition, start match, drive and as soon as you see the progress bar move, guide, quit, reload. I was getting better than 2 a minute. It definitely helped me out, as I completed the whole game during the free trial!

Quick stupid question... what does "force close" mean?

Dashboard? Turn it off? Switch games?
0
0
By Y2Kasper10 on 11 Jun 2016 23:20
It still works though I have to pause it first and then force close it.

@Y2Kasper10; after you start driving, pause it and then hit the guide button to the dashboard and then follow up with hitting start while you're still highlighted over Rocket League and select quit. Then start it back up and repeat.

I'm working on this right now as well, but I don't need to pause - I don't even need to drive. The achievement app counter is going up as soon as the countdown at the start of the match ends.

You literally saved me money. Last night was the only free weekend night I had available and I thought I'd made a terrible mistake when I realised this last achievement was only 25% complete. Very grateful!

Nighthawk814 - definitely works. Make sure you're driving bit before quitting out (and quitting out means pressing the Xbox button and force-quitting the game). To be safe I drove for about 10-15 seconds before quitting but I don't think you need that much. Make sure the Rocket League servers are actually connected too, that might possibly impact it. Check by attempting an online match.

Was stuck at 76%. Did a similar trick to the method for unlocking "Battle of Heroes" with the disc offline. I used the solution as described above while offline using the disc with no updates installed. After quitting out the appropriate number of times for the percentage I needed, I loaded up another match, drove forward a little, paused the game, and reconnected to XBL. After the game force closed and I cancelled the update, I checked my achievements and it had unlocked. Hope this can help someone.

This should, and likely will be, the last achievement to get. Unless you really need it for some reason wait until the end to grind it out since you'll knock out a good 25% or more getting the others. If you don't want to wait for this to come over time then there is an idle method below.

This can take as long as 8 hours depending on how much progress you've made before hand.

Idle Method

Start an Exhibition match on any map with no bots. You'll also want to adjust the Mutator settings to these:

- Match Length: Unlimited
- Boost Amount: Unlimited
- Boost Strength: 10X
- Maximum Score: 1, 3 or 5 (This is the only way to end the match. It's not required, but as long as this takes it's good to have a way to guarantee a progress save if you need to stop.)

In the match, tap the ball into a corner so it's out of the way. Now, return to the center and get the cn_LS (left stick) turned all the way left or right with a rubber band or tape. Then rubber band down the cn_B (boost) and cn_X (powerslide) buttons. You may need to wedge something under it to get them fully pressed. This will leave your car doing a never ending doughnut on the field. You can simply plug the controller into a charging cable while it goes in circles the whole time without you around.

NOTE: JORAX points out in the comments that you can bind the Powerslide and Boost to the triggers to make it easier to rubber band. Go to settings and tab over to controls then bind each to a trigger for an easier way to set this up. Just be sure to switch it back after you're done if you want to play the game.

NOTE 2: Fleshwrither mentions if you start receiving no progress you should try using only the normal accelerator (cn_RT) instead of the boost. If this fixes the problem try to add the boost to your setup to make it go faster. Just verify that progress doesn't stop again.

Additional Information

You can check your distance by going to the garage and selecting tires. Each tire tracks the distance covered while using them. All 50 KM do not need to be done on one set of tires. Mine unlocked with one set at 43 with others filling in the rest. Some people have mentioned going over 50 KM on one set before it unlocked, so it isn't a bad idea to stick with one until you've completed this.

The tracker in the achievement app doesn't work all the time, but it will progress by closing the app and re-opening it or once the achievement pops. There are issues though, so refer to NOTE 2 for a possible solution.

EDIT 1: Adjusted for clarity and added more information.

So, I just completed this, and I'm pretty sure you have to get all 50 KM on none set of tires it is not cumulative. I didnt get it until I had 50 KM on one set of tires, and I have 9 on another set, with a bunch of sporatic numbers around.

By Nekro Neko on 20 Feb 2016 04:08
Not sure how relevant this is, but I did spend quite a lot of time in the air and on the wall during those 68kms. This might be the crux of the reason why it isn't unlocking when you think it should. Perhaps.
0
0
By Nekro Neko on 20 Feb 2016 04:11
The wall counts. I did a chunk of my progress on the wall. Time in the air is likely where the difference is. The wheels don't spin and that seems to be the way it tracks progress.

I just tested it with a second account and it still works for me. There have been quite a few people that mention hitting a period of no progress in the 30% range. Mine froze then jumped from 32% to over 40%. It does work, but there seems to be an issue that affects people randomly.

I kinda figured it out on my own with a tiny modification : I don't use any turbo/nitro at all cuz it seems it was this which messed up everything... So I tried same rubberband trick but only with accelerator blocked and this looks fine. I went from 6.8 kms to 14.5 in an hour or so and xbx One cheevo app tracker went from 36% to 46%. I'll stick to this then, hoping I helped some people too here.

After obtaining all the other achievements I had a lot of trouble with the tracking/progress on this one.

I found the best working method to be playing Local - Season - 4v4 - Rookie games repeatedly with RT (accelerator) held down with a rubberband.

Leave the match to play out with your car driving around (you can go and make a drink or whatever). After 2 or 3 matches 2% should be added to the tracker - when you notice this open and check the tracked achievement progress to update it then repeat the process.

This achievement is known to be very buggy so if this method doesn't work for you I'm sorry.

Works for a while until it stops counting. Resetting the game/console seems to work for a bit until it stops working again. Thank you for your method. I can’t believe this is so annoying.

Best solution. Exhibition wasn’t working and my progress bar was completely stuck. Finally unlocked using this solution. From my experience, it took an average of 2 to 3 matches to gain 2% progress. When the progress got halted again I switched wheels to wheels I never used before.

after trying the other solutions and still being stuck at 36%, I tried the above, albeit with 1 vs 1, and it did indeed go up 2% every 3 matches. Nice long grind ahead, I guess you can do it whilst you watch TV.

Came back to the game last night after giving up on this achievement a few months ago (stuck at 10%, having no luck with other top-rated solutions) – and this one worked! Currently at 32% with a few more grinding sessions ahead of me... Cheers OP.

After 9 races mine tracks 6% then I need to restart the console again.

Hopefully I can idle the remaining 123 games and finally be done with this game! (God I wish it tracked properly!)

Fortunately your method is the only one working for me! Unfortunately this is taking a toll on me as I'm beyond bored just sitting here tapping A for every goal and after the match ends. I'm at about 42%. If this wasn't the last achievement I needed I wouldn't bother but since I'm a completion whore this is weighing on me heavy. I will update my comment once this achievement is completed. I pray Rocket League never adds more achievements! Just wanna pop this last one and uninstall!

You will not travel very far whilst going for the other achievements so assuming you do not want to play normally and are just going for the achievements here is a grinding method:
Setup a 1v1 exhibition match with no bots in the 'DFH Stadium' and use the following mutators:
• Match Length - Unlimited
• Max Score - 1 Goal (To end the match once done)
• Boost amount - Unlimited
• Boost Strength - 10x

Now start the match and head straight for the walls whilst holding cn_B to boost and now just keep driving around the walls of the arena, you can use the xbox's achievement tracker to keep track of how far you've driven but beware that the tracker for this achievement updates random times so if you snap the app it might not update for some time BUT if you reach the target it will pop at the right time regardless. It does seem to update once a new match has begun if you're worried it hasn't moved.

Stig Assassin Notes this might take upwards of 6 hours
Here's a video from my Wall-Crawler solution showing a similar setup (On a different arena though, used DFH for this solution as it has smoother corners)

If your really stuck for this, go into any mode. Practice is best and drive around. If your in a situation Where your playing an actual game such as tournament, just boost around, preferably using an elastic band on cn_R2 as well as cn_LSc. Also you can play a no bot exhibition match and force a game into overtime to just drive round and score if you need the item or quit the game when you have it.

It should unlock after 75km or so. (Maybe less into your play through). Some people have claimed less distance (which can be checked in your garage and selecting the wheel you have equipped and checking the statistic for distance travelled.)

You can only get this in OFFLINE and ONLINE modes now, with the latest patch update.

Able to achieve in free play.
Use rubberband for throttle cn_RT and steering cn_LSr.
Use tape or small stick on boost cn_B.
Drive in circles and keep your controller powered.

Fully correct solution for October 2020 (since free2Play Update):

There are many false information out there, so this will help a lot:

- You CAN CHANGE wheels. It doesnt reset your conter towards the achievement. You can use every wheels you want

- The achievement description for Europe is wrong. You have to drive 50 MILES, not kilometers. 50 Miles are about 80 kilometers so it won't pop with 50 kilometers. Thats a common mistake

- When you drove for example with one wheel set 10 kilometers, with another 70, this works and is cumulative.

- When you rubberband the miles, change the button for gas for example from RT to RB or one of the 4 main buttons. its way more better to rubberband this way and deactivate vibration

- Take note to finish your matches, not quit them.

Guide written 6th of april 2017.

1. You can check your progress in the garage, by looking at the wheels you've used. It will tell you the distance you have driven.
2. The trophy does usually NOT unlock at 50 km. For me, it unlocked at roughly 70 km.

You can unlock this trophy in exhibition mode. It did for me. Start an exhibition match against no bots and, put a rubber band on the controller and let it drive around.

Note: for me, I did not get any distance driven that I could see in the garage when I set the exhibition time to "unlimited lenght". Only when the match lasted 5, 10 or 20 minutes did I get any progress towards the trophy.

Hope that helps.

Good guide, I just wanted to add:

In order to get progress to count When you set a Match to unlimited time you either need to:

A) Drive the remaining distance for the trophy within the same match. If you leave the match without it registering as a completed match the progress will not save. ( I made this mistake this morning after it was running for 3 hours)

B) Set the score limit to 1 and Score to complete the match whenever you want to check your progress in the garage.

nice and easy.

exhibition
mutator to unlimited time, unlimited boost
moved the ball away in a corner of the field.
rubber band to turn, throttle on, boost too.

I started on evening, switched tv off.
the morning after, the control pad had switched off, and the car was standing idle.

but the trophy was there.

(GLITCHED)

The latest update has apparently reduced the amount of KM required from 500 to 50. This appears to only be a requirements change and doesn't affect the trophy's glitches.

This trophy's requirements are glitched; the trophy will unlock once you have covered 50KM, but the game's counters are broken and don't record distance correctly. The curent count seems to hover around 18KM. Also, you'll need to accumulate these KM on a single set of wheels, so for the purposes of this guide, pick one of the default ones and don't change it. If you've crossed this amount by a significant margin, switch to a different set of wheels as you may have passed the required amount and the trophy simply didn't unlock.

You can check how many KM you have traveled. At the main menu, select Garage, then press to scroll to wheels. Hover over the wheel you've been driving with and it will show you how many KM it has accumulated. This is the counter that is glitched, so treat it as if you need to earn 68KM to unlock the trophy.

This trophy also has a number of other glitches: Boosting to cover more distance faster is known to have the opposite effect; the counters sometimes rise slower in games where you primarily boosted.

The method to boost this trophy will involve you spending a few hours letting the game idle in Exhibition without bots while your car runs in circles. It requires a rubber band and some other way of holding down (In my case, a second rubber band).

Method:

Step 1:
Start an Exhibition game without bots.

Step 2:
Tie a rubber band around and loop it around the handle of the controller. Use the second rubber band to hold . Alternatively, you can wedge a coin or a folded-up piece of paper in the gap makes when pressed down. Below are examples:

The result is your Battle-Car perpetually running in circles to rack up KM for Far, Far Away....

Step 3:
If a game is tied and the timer runs out, the game switches to Overtime until a goal is scored. As you won't be scoring any goals, you can indefinitely grind this trophy out. If you need to stop grinding, be sure to score a goal to end the game after that grinding session, as pressing to quit the game means those metres gained do not count.

Also, if you are having issues with rubberbanding , you can remap the buttons by navigating to Options on the main menu, then pressing to access Controls. From this menu, you can change the mapping for Accelerate to one of the face buttons, then tape that face button down. You can also access this menu by pressing mid-game.

You have to grind this trophy in Exhibition as distance traveled in Freeplay does not count. The trophy will normally unlock as soon as you reach the required amount of KM.

Glitches with this trophy fixed as of patch 1.03:

  • Distance now counts when playing online.

Simply drive 50km. Cumulative over all game modes, but if you are looking to get this quicker, it is best to start an unlimited time Exhibition match and drive until the Achievement unlocks.

If you want to earn this easier you can use rubber bands on your controller to hold down the accelerator and steering so your car just drives in circles until the Achievement unlock. Make sure you have your controller plugged into your console with a USB Cable so the controller does not die or shut itself off.

The achievement seems to be glitched. If you are tracking the achievement in the Xbox One Achievement App, the percentage does not always go up after each game. The achievement is unlockable, but glitchy.

Select Exhibition game modes, set 1 Vs 1, select a game without bots, score 1 goal and start skating around. In one match (5 minutes), at best you will cover 1 km. If you want to forget the trophy, then do not score the ball and wait for overtime, then hold down the gas button, leave the console like that and in overtime the game will last indefinitely. Patch 1.00 you need to drive 70-80 km.

The trophy was given after 44.5 miles (on all tires) or 71.5 km. I tried to understand which tires do not count (29.3 km OEM, 24.2 km Vortex, 10.2 km Сhopper, 5.2 stern, 2.6 sweet tooth).
Not one option is suitable, it’s just a glitch.
I received the trophy after an offline match, so the hint "online only" is not correct

Statistics can be viewed by going to the garage in the tires section. Each tire has its own mileage; you can safely change them because the stats add up.

After you have completed the circles, DO NOT GO OUT IMMEDIATELY!!!
Just kick the ball into the goal and end the game naturally by winning.
Otherwise, your accumulated mileage will not be counted.
Also: in multiplayer, mileage is not calculated.

We turn on the mode without bots 1 on 1, score a goal for ourselves and our opponents, drive onto the wall (you can first change the controls so that the gas is on ) and hold down the gas. Let's go do things, after everything, we score a goal in any goal and that's it

The easiest way is to take a match and insert it into the opening and that’s it. The machine rolls by itself and scores 1 goal. You can turn off the TV, put the dual shock down and periodically press the X button twice to restart the level. This way you get 2 trophies at once. For 500 km and 165 games.

I played 1v1 seasons with a bot, scored a few goals and pressed R2 with a coin (2p.) and went off to do business. And so every match. As a result, you drive the required number of kilometers (I drove 80 km 350 m and the trophy fell out) and objects fall out. We kill several achievements with one shot

As someone already wrote above, we actually roll 500 km, but in tire statistics the distance is calculated in an incomprehensible way, because of this, everyone gets a trophy after driving a different number of kilometers. Follow the "What's New?" on your console, at a certain moment a message will appear saying that you have traveled 250 km, and after receiving the trophy a message stating that you have traveled 500 km.

You can fix the stick left or right and hold down the accelerator button (R2 does not have to be pressed). Next, set the mutator to an endless match and speed 10x. After driving for an hour, see how much you have driven.
It is necessary to score a goal and finish the match for the mileage to count

Mileage is taken into account, which is accumulated only online; with bots, kilometers are counted and displayed in statistics, but do not count towards the trophy.

There is a version that in 1.26 the trophy is buggy. I launched the game for the first time for six months, started the match in winter mode, just touched the puck, the trophy fell out of the addon and was 50 km away. The statistics of all tires show a total of no more than 22 km!

Play - Local game:
Team size: 1v1;
Bot difficulty: NO BOTS;
Mutator settings:
Play time: Infinite;
Game scores: 3 Goals;
Boosters: Unlimited;
Set nitro to L2
We tie two sticks together (with rope or wire) (I tied them with sparklers), place the gamepad on the floor so that the buttons And were pressed (I advise you to put something heavy, for example a book), EVERYTHING!
In 4-5 hours the trophy is yours

The latest version of the game (1.8 seems to be) The trophy is paid out at exactly 50 km. All distances on all wheels are summed up. For those who want to get it in 3 hours, do the following:
Local 1v1 play without bots
Mutators:
time is endless
1 goal (in case the trophy does not appear after 3 hours, score a goal and exit to the menu)
nitro endless
nitro power x10
Drive up to the middle with rubber bands, left stick to the left and button , time it for 3 hours, and the trophy is yours. I did this myself. On infinite nitro, 50 km is covered much faster))

You need to drive about 70-80 km (In five minutes circling around the arena you can drive a little over 1 km!). Most importantly, to reduce the time to get platinum, combine with the Stocked trophy (Get all items) - for this you need to play 150+ matches. Your level also affects how you receive prizes!
