How to unlock the Far, Far Away... achievement in Rocket League - Definitive Guide
I force closed the game, booted it up again and loaded an exhibition match. As soon as I started driving the achievement progress increased by 2%. A great way to boost if you're near the end of the achievement.
TL;DR Boot up game, load exhibition match, drive, force close game. Rinse and repeat.
EDIT: THIS SOLUTION DOESN'T APPEAR TO WORK ANYMORE. THIS SOLUTION IS FOUR YEARS OLD AFTER ALL...
This can take as long as 8 hours depending on how much progress you've made before hand.
Idle Method
Start an Exhibition match on any map with no bots. You'll also want to adjust the Mutator settings to these:
- Match Length: Unlimited
- Boost Amount: Unlimited
- Boost Strength: 10X
- Maximum Score: 1, 3 or 5 (This is the only way to end the match. It's not required, but as long as this takes it's good to have a way to guarantee a progress save if you need to stop.)
In the match, tap the ball into a corner so it's out of the way. Now, return to the center and get the (left stick) turned all the way left or right with a rubber band or tape. Then rubber band down the (boost) and (powerslide) buttons. You may need to wedge something under it to get them fully pressed. This will leave your car doing a never ending doughnut on the field. You can simply plug the controller into a charging cable while it goes in circles the whole time without you around.
NOTE: JORAX points out in the comments that you can bind the Powerslide and Boost to the triggers to make it easier to rubber band. Go to settings and tab over to controls then bind each to a trigger for an easier way to set this up. Just be sure to switch it back after you're done if you want to play the game.
NOTE 2: Fleshwrither mentions if you start receiving no progress you should try using only the normal accelerator () instead of the boost. If this fixes the problem try to add the boost to your setup to make it go faster. Just verify that progress doesn't stop again.
Additional Information
You can check your distance by going to the garage and selecting tires. Each tire tracks the distance covered while using them. All 50 KM do not need to be done on one set of tires. Mine unlocked with one set at 43 with others filling in the rest. Some people have mentioned going over 50 KM on one set before it unlocked, so it isn't a bad idea to stick with one until you've completed this.
The tracker in the achievement app doesn't work all the time, but it will progress by closing the app and re-opening it or once the achievement pops. There are issues though, so refer to NOTE 2 for a possible solution.
EDIT 1: Adjusted for clarity and added more information.
I went from 4% to 100% in ~8 hours.
I found the best working method to be playing Local - Season - 4v4 - Rookie games repeatedly with RT (accelerator) held down with a rubberband.
Leave the match to play out with your car driving around (you can go and make a drink or whatever). After 2 or 3 matches 2% should be added to the tracker - when you notice this open and check the tracked achievement progress to update it then repeat the process.
This achievement is known to be very buggy so if this method doesn't work for you I'm sorry.
Setup a 1v1 exhibition match with no bots in the 'DFH Stadium' and use the following mutators:
• Match Length - Unlimited
• Max Score - 1 Goal (To end the match once done)
• Boost amount - Unlimited
• Boost Strength - 10x
Now start the match and head straight for the walls whilst holding to boost and now just keep driving around the walls of the arena, you can use the xbox's achievement tracker to keep track of how far you've driven but beware that the tracker for this achievement updates random times so if you snap the app it might not update for some time BUT if you reach the target it will pop at the right time regardless. It does seem to update once a new match has begun if you're worried it hasn't moved.
Stig Assassin Notes this might take upwards of 6 hours
Here's a video from my Wall-Crawler solution showing a similar setup (On a different arena though, used DFH for this solution as it has smoother corners)
It should unlock after 75km or so. (Maybe less into your play through). Some people have claimed less distance (which can be checked in your garage and selecting the wheel you have equipped and checking the statistic for distance travelled.)
You can only get this in OFFLINE and ONLINE modes now, with the latest patch update.
Use rubberband for throttle and steering .
Use tape or small stick on boost .
Drive in circles and keep your controller powered.
There are many false information out there, so this will help a lot:
- You CAN CHANGE wheels. It doesnt reset your conter towards the achievement. You can use every wheels you want
- The achievement description for Europe is wrong. You have to drive 50 MILES, not kilometers. 50 Miles are about 80 kilometers so it won't pop with 50 kilometers. Thats a common mistake
- When you drove for example with one wheel set 10 kilometers, with another 70, this works and is cumulative.
- When you rubberband the miles, change the button for gas for example from RT to RB or one of the 4 main buttons. its way more better to rubberband this way and deactivate vibration
- Take note to finish your matches, not quit them.
1. You can check your progress in the garage, by looking at the wheels you've used. It will tell you the distance you have driven.
2. The trophy does usually NOT unlock at 50 km. For me, it unlocked at roughly 70 km.
You can unlock this trophy in exhibition mode. It did for me. Start an exhibition match against no bots and, put a rubber band on the controller and let it drive around.
Note: for me, I did not get any distance driven that I could see in the garage when I set the exhibition time to "unlimited lenght". Only when the match lasted 5, 10 or 20 minutes did I get any progress towards the trophy.
Hope that helps.
In order to get progress to count When you set a Match to unlimited time you either need to:
A) Drive the remaining distance for the trophy within the same match. If you leave the match without it registering as a completed match the progress will not save. ( I made this mistake this morning after it was running for 3 hours)
B) Set the score limit to 1 and Score to complete the match whenever you want to check your progress in the garage.
exhibition
mutator to unlimited time, unlimited boost
moved the ball away in a corner of the field.
rubber band to turn, throttle on, boost too.
I started on evening, switched tv off.
the morning after, the control pad had switched off, and the car was standing idle.
but the trophy was there.
Confirmed working 1v1 private match with bots rookie.. play match win . Had 15 goals to CPU 0 progress advanced

(GLITCHED)
The latest update has apparently reduced the amount of KM required from 500 to 50. This appears to only be a requirements change and doesn't affect the trophy's glitches.
This trophy's requirements are glitched; the trophy will unlock once you have covered 50KM, but the game's counters are broken and don't record distance correctly. The curent count seems to hover around 18KM. Also, you'll need to accumulate these KM on a single set of wheels, so for the purposes of this guide, pick one of the default ones and don't change it. If you've crossed this amount by a significant margin, switch to a different set of wheels as you may have passed the required amount and the trophy simply didn't unlock.
You can check how many KM you have traveled. At the main menu, select Garage, then press to scroll to wheels. Hover over the wheel you've been driving with and it will show you how many KM it has accumulated. This is the counter that is glitched, so treat it as if you need to earn 68KM to unlock the trophy.
This trophy also has a number of other glitches: Boosting to cover more distance faster is known to have the opposite effect; the counters sometimes rise slower in games where you primarily boosted.
The method to boost this trophy will involve you spending a few hours letting the game idle in Exhibition without bots while your car runs in circles. It requires a rubber band and some other way of holding down (In my case, a second rubber band).
Method:
Step 1:
Start an Exhibition game without bots.
Step 2:
Tie a rubber band around and loop it around the handle of the controller. Use the second rubber band to hold . Alternatively, you can wedge a coin or a folded-up piece of paper in the gap makes when pressed down. Below are examples:
The result is your Battle-Car perpetually running in circles to rack up KM for Far, Far Away....
Step 3:
If a game is tied and the timer runs out, the game switches to Overtime until a goal is scored. As you won't be scoring any goals, you can indefinitely grind this trophy out. If you need to stop grinding, be sure to score a goal to end the game after that grinding session, as pressing to quit the game means those metres gained do not count.
Also, if you are having issues with rubberbanding , you can remap the buttons by navigating to Options on the main menu, then pressing to access Controls. From this menu, you can change the mapping for Accelerate to one of the face buttons, then tape that face button down. You can also access this menu by pressing mid-game.
You have to grind this trophy in Exhibition as distance traveled in Freeplay does not count. The trophy will normally unlock as soon as you reach the required amount of KM.
Glitches with this trophy fixed as of patch 1.03:
- Distance now counts when playing online.
Simply drive 50km. Cumulative over all game modes, but if you are looking to get this quicker, it is best to start an unlimited time Exhibition match and drive until the Achievement unlocks.
If you want to earn this easier you can use rubber bands on your controller to hold down the accelerator and steering so your car just drives in circles until the Achievement unlock. Make sure you have your controller plugged into your console with a USB Cable so the controller does not die or shut itself off.
The achievement seems to be glitched. If you are tracking the achievement in the Xbox One Achievement App, the percentage does not always go up after each game. The achievement is unlockable, but glitchy.
Not one option is suitable, it’s just a glitch.
I received the trophy after an offline match, so the hint "online only" is not correct
