How to unlock the Stopped Cold achievement in Rocket League - Definitive Guide

This is easiest with a second controller, but you can do this with a rookie bot just as easily.

Start a civilized rumble exhibition 1v1 match, unlimited time and unlimited score if you want to give yourself as many opportunities as you need. Use all the powerups until you get the Ice Ball powerup, once you have it, use your second controller to shoot at you (or wait for the bot to attack you.) then once it gets right before the barrier hit cn_LS to freeze the ball before it enters your goal.

BETTER SETTINGS for SOLO METHOD, ONE CONTROLLER:

• Exhibition Match
• Game Mode: RUMBLE
• Arena: ANY
• Team Size: 3v3 recommended
• Bot Difficulty: PRO or ALL-STAR
• Match Length/Max Score: UNLIMITED
• Rumble: CIVILIZED

Because Rookie bots are stupid, they take forever to set up shots. And 1v1 will have your opponent camping in his goal for half the match. Better to make them smarter — Pro or All-Star — and more plentiful, so that shots on goal occur more frequently. All-Star 3v3 worked best for me; there's more action than 2v2 but it's not as chaotic as 4v4.

If you set the Rumble mutator to Civilized, it pulls from a smaller pool of power-ups which includes only the ball-oriented ones and excludes the car-attack-oriented ones. This means Ice Ball will come up more often, giving you more opportunities to get this done.

You must freeze the ball with cn_LS after it is considered to be a shot on your goal. Freeze it just before, or as, it is crossing the goal's threshold. To be done correctly, the freezing of the ball must register as a Save or an Epic Save. The achievement will pop during the match immediately after you succeed.

This is the Ice Ball power-up:

If you wanna do this with two controllers, check out Tyboy17's video, but remember to use the Civilized mutator!

Maybe playing on the Double Goals map was part of your problem, thatNoseyParker. If 2v2 worked better for you, that's good to hear. The main reason for my solution was to steer people away from wasting their time using 1v1, and to mention that mutator.

I wasted almost a half hour with the "other" solution (my choice to keep trying). Your solution took me about 40 seconds. Thank you!

3v3 on Double Goals was awful for this. Failed 7 times usually due to my own team scoring as I get it, or they saved it themselves. 2v2 on Wasteland, got it within instantly
Otherwise great tips

I found the easiest way to do this, at least for me, was to set up a match with the following:

• Exhibition Match
• Game Mode: Rumble on any arena
• Bot Difficulty: Unfair (1v2)
• Rumble: Civilized

I found that the solution posted by "z 4assed monkey" was a good starting ground, at least in setting the rumble to civilized. I find that the biggest problem I had with their solution was that the bots on your team do a good job of defending you, but you don't really want that.

Having 1v2 means that you have two bots on the opponent team that are constantly trying to score goals on you, which is much easier to defend when you are alone. The biggest challenge was defending the goal while you wait for the Ice Ball power up. There were multiple opportunities for them to score, but just defend yourself until you're able to get the power up. There were many of attempts where the ball just rolled into the goal and I did not have the power up. I suggest defending the goal and saving (rather than letting them score) and sit in your goal until you can get the power up, that way you can watch them and learn how they shoot, etc.

I was able to unlock this within 5 minutes of starting the match.

Setup a Rumble match on AquaDome, 1v1 and use a second controller if you have one.
Set it to unlimited time and goals.

Basically, you will need to drive around until you get the ice ball weapon, with that controller then park them in the goal area.

Using the second controller (without freeze) tap the ball towards the opposing goal.

Using car 1, freeze the ball in the goal area before it goes in.

There are 3 ways of doing it:
1) Using a second controller.
2) Doing a private match with a friend.
3) 1v1 with a rookie bot.

Start a civilized rumble exhibition 1v1 match with unlimited time and unlimited score. Use all the powerups (cn_LS) until you get the Ice Ball then once the ball gets right before the barrier use the freeze with (cn_LS) (before it enters your goal).

There are 2 power-ups that have ice effects but the one you need is called Freezer (see Infinite Power! for details). Once you have it, activate it with but don't use it just yet! Have your opponent shoot the ball towards your net and once the ball is right before the goal line, simply activate the ability to get the trophy. It may take a few tries as the shot must be fast enough for the game to consider it a shot. If you fail, then simply cycle through the power-ups until it shows up again.

Start an exhibition match of 1v1 rumble (with a friend or second controller). Wait until you have the freezer power up. Now use the second controller to hit the ball towards your net and "freeze" it with your first controller before it goes in.

In a 1v1 game with a bot in rumble mode, we wait until the ball freezes, then we drive inside our goal and wait. As soon as the bot hits so that the ball flies into your goal, we freeze it right in front of the ribbon. The trophy will be given even if the bot scores a goal after you freeze it.

If you set tactical rumble in mutators, you will get frozen more often.
