Salt and Sanctuary

This is a special creed. It is recommended to anyone.

The sanctuary for the Order of the Betrayer is found in The Blackest Vault area. You must take an oath to this creed to unlock the trophy.

For you to be invited to this creed, you need a Bloody Writ. This item is obtained when you desecrate a sanctuary and die to the defenders. To get the item:

1 – You must have at least one Stained Page. It can be purchased from some merchants and dropped by many enemies in the Red Hall of Cages. The Stained Page lets you desecrate sanctuaries, i.e., makes all NPCs on that area hostile, while summoning guardians that will attack you.

2 – To desecrate sanctuaries, equip it and use it just like you would claim a sanctuary. You must desecrate a sanctuary of a creed you do not belong to.

3 – Die on purpose to the guardians. Upon respawning, you will have a Bloody writ in your inventory.

4 – Head to Siam Lake. From there, head right and drop down when it seems it is a death fall. You’ll land into a small platform with water pouring from one of the sides. There is a series of platforms in which you will have to fall to get to the Blackest Vault. The water shows the side from which it is safe to fall from. Keep in mind you will have to heal yourself. Be careful, as the last fall will land you on a wooden platform, which will break if you stand onto it.

5 – Talk to the NPC to the right of the wooden platform and agree with him. Give him the Bloody Writ and you’ll join the creed.

*Note on desecrating a creed: Upon desecrating, you won’t be able to teleport to any sanctuary that has that creed’s symbol in it. Make sure you desecrate a creed that only possesses one single sanctuary for minimal damage. I lost half of my fast travel points due to desecrating a creed with many sanctuaries.

*Note on joining Order of the Betrayal: Unlike other creeds, when you join this one, you do not sin towards your old creed. Your devotion level still goes back to 1 with your previous creed, though.
