You can, of course, literally after any battle, be it in the story or in the citadel, buy materials in the store, but each time you can buy no more than 5, and you won’t be able to save up for all buildings up to level 5, even when you close everything story battles on all difficulties. So it makes more sense to close the citadel battles. They last shorter (5 minutes maximum), and with a higher rating rating, you are also sprinkled with these materials on top, thanks to which only at the final levels of the citadel you can collect fifty, if not more, units of materials (these are ore, wood and silk) .

Upon completion of the citadel, there should be enough resources for rank S, but if not enough, you will still have a lot of time to knock out another trophy
