How to unlock the Bouncy achievement in Sea of Stars - Definitive Guide

For this achievement, you need to use Valere's skill called Moonerang.

When you use this skill, Valere launches a boomerang and you have to press spacebar/A when it comes back to you to make it bounce again towards the enemy.
The counter goes up each time the boomerang hits someone, so when it hits an enemy it also counts towards the 25 bounces.
It gets faster and faster so it all comes down to timing. The farther the enemy is, the longer it takes for the boomerang to go back and forth so you have more breathing time between two hits. Also, trying this in fights with more than one enemy makes it trickier because the timing changes depending on the distance between you and the different enemies.

This is why I suggest trying this in a fight with a single enemy who is far away from you on the battleground.

I did it early in the game, during the

There's a save right before that boss if you need to retry.
As suggested by Tryum in the comments, the boss called
is also a good place to try.

You'll know you nailed 25 hits in a row because the skill automatically stops after the 25th. Achievement unlocked ~5 seconds after.

Thanks for confirming A button on Xbox.

It's ridiculous that TA lumps console players with PC players on most games. Look, play where you want, but to not acknowledge Achievements are far, far easier on PC with M&K is insane. Lazy TA, lazy.

Focusing on this achievement shouldn’t be necessary, you should get better with the timing as the game goes on and be able to consistently hit the 20’s with this move by the end-game, if not earlier.

Also not unlocking for me. Have done 25+ hits multiple times, so either it only counts hits on Valere (and not on enemies) or it’s buggy.

I had some trouble with this one, but once I realized that you are not actually trying to time the reflect, a la Ocarina of Time's Ganondorf tennis match, but rather just make sure you are blocking when the boomerang gets back to you, this became much easier. After the first~10 reflects, the boomerang is moving fast enough that if you just stop timing the block and instead just press and hold block every time you see the attack land, and release every time you see yourself make the reflect, your block lasts more than long enough to pass the next check. It takes a bit, but once you get into that rhythm getting 25 is pretty consistently easy. Turn on the relic that makes a star appear every successful action command if you are struggling, it gives a clear indication of when to release the block, and its just "Number appears = press, Star appears = release".

I got it in the Cursed Woods at the first save point (near the tree) ; I saved in a new slot and walked down to where the Woodland Spirit and Arentee are, then tried it. Failed several times but kept trying. I eventually got it, deleted that save (as my original save was present where I was further in) ; very frustrating achievement but doable.

You can get this achievement using the Soonrang combo as well. I don't know that it's any easier or harder, but at least it's another option - and one that doesn't require MP.

I am fairly certain the achievement pops when you just hit the bounce button 25 times before failing to bounce back the Moonerang. I couldn't seem to hit 25, then I got the idea to start mashing as it got faster bc there is no penalty for missing. I counted 19 bounces, however the achievement popped. Worked on my son's account too.

I was having a really hard time with this on Xbox using a controller, but I got it first try against Elder Mist on PC using a keyboard. I'm not sure why it worked on PC, but the response time just felt off with controller as it gets fast towards the end. Like I knew I was pushing it, it just wasn't registering. The highest I could get was 22, on PC I got 28 first try.

Yep I was going to post what Corporate said. I played this mostly on PC and got this achievement within the first couple hours of playing without even trying. However, I also played on Xbox at times and the input/response time on Xbox is really bad. I found using Moonerang and timing blocks/hits way more challenging on Xbox compared to PC.

If you are struggling, try PC!

I got it on The Botanical Horror in the Haunted Mansion after destroying the 4 flower vines... by that point in the game I had a lot of practice with the moonerang, it stands you far enough away, and it had enough hitpoints to sustain it (I kept killing things before 25 hits landed, ha)

For those of you that JUST can't get it.....wait until Autumn Hills for the Leaf monster! It's the easiest way to get the achievement! Make sure you save before entering the door! The idea is that this mini boss is pushed further away every time you have a successful bounce with your boomerang, making it easier to time your hits when it becomes faster! I've tried all bosses until this one, all mob...no success! With the Leaf Monster....first try! Hope this helps anyone!

@Daelus1 that's a Microsoft issue, they opted for a lot of games to be Play Anywhere titles so the achievement list is shared across platforms. Nothing to do with TA. 🤦🏻‍♂️

OT - I managed to get this against a group of 3 enemies when I revisited the Moorlands area of Sleeper Island. They were all positioned in a straight line so were all the same distance away from Valere. They never aligned themselves this way the first time I came through but did when I went back to look for a conch after clearing the Stonemason mine.

For some reason I really struggled with this - tried and tried but couldn't get more than 15/16. Eventually got it against Botanical Horror on NG+. Took out all but the left-hand pod, then just had to bounce off that and the main body - Valere went to the far right of the screen so gave me much longer to get the bounce, got it first attempt. Finally!!

This is a good boss for it. Although it can be done with any combination of enemies, typically a single target works best, as the distance remains the same per bounce, so the rhythm remains simpler than any combination of 2+ enemies. Each bounce becomes faster than the last, and distance between the target and Valere matters also. After a dozen plus strikes, it also becomes button mashing, but you can go too fast also, but use it enough and it'll eventually work out.

Moonerang is one of Valere's skills, which involves using perfectly timed presses of button-a.png to deflect her moonerang at opponents. You can do this indefinitely so long as you keep doing it at the right time, but the moonerang will speed up with each successive deflection, to a point where you're essentially just mashing button-a.png and hoping for the best. I found this easiest to do against a group of three enemies that were all on the same side of the group. I've also had some long streaks against bosses that are far away from the group. It really just takes some practice, and once it hits top speed you'll want to hit the button as soon as you hear the moonerang connect with the enemy - her deflection lasts a half a second and will still be up when it comes back. I'd suggest saving with full MP and engaging some enemies, then just returning to the main menu and reloading your save to keep trying over and over until you nail it, or just keep attempting it as the game progresses and you'll get there in time. Below is an example of the three enemy approach.

You should get this trophy naturally during your numerous fights. This trophy requires you to hit enemies for a total of 25 times in a row with Valere's Moonerang ability.

This may take a few attempts but since you will be using this ability many times, chances are that you will make it before finishing the game.

Valerie has a skill: Moon Rang. You need to use the skill and hit the boomerang 25 times on the button

To make it easier to hit the boomerang, you need to look at Valerie, and not at the boomerang itself, and when it is close, press .

For me this was the most difficult trophy. I only took it to NG+ with Fog. Maybe it will help you, as it happened for me. Boss - Fog. We kill the hand. And you have two attempts to make the trophy. Then restart. On the Fog I was looking at the moonang and somewhere around 4 distances (Valerie's size) from Valerie I pressed X. On the 11th try I was able to do it.

Knocked out on a bunch of regular mobs by accident. The main thing to keep in mind is that you need to hit not directly when touching the lunorang, but a little earlier. A fairly long “window” of beating is created when you press

I tried for a long time to do it on simple monsters, but in the end it turned out quite easily on botanical horror. We kill the flowers and cast Lunarang on the boss. The boss and the character are quite far from each other, which greatly simplifies the task, plus the boss has a lot of HP and, if it didn’t work out the first time, you can try again

I tried to get this trophy in every battle, and finally got it at the 8th hour of the game. The easiest way to do it is on a boss, if there is only 1 target for attack, so that it flies away from the same place
