How to unlock the Five of a Kind achievement in Starfield - Definitive Guide

When you follow the main questline for Shattered Space and get to the quest "Promised, broken" you will then meet in the city a guy named Ekris Kaisir who will then tell you about Vortex Grenades, after this dialogue you can then craft 5 different Vortex Grenades in any Industrial Workbench.

You will then need these items to craft the five different vortex grenades:

Vortex Grenade - Binding
1 Dark Vortex Cyst
1 Vortex Shard

Vortex Grenade - Charged
1 Glowing Vortex Cyst
1 Vortex Shard

Vortex Grenade - Lure
1 Vortex Cyst
1 Dark Vortex Cyst
1 Vortex Shard

Vortex Grenade - Phasing
1 Vortex Cyst
1 Glowing Vortex Cyst
1 Vortex Shard

Vortex Grenade - Unstable
1 Vortex Shard
1 Vortex Cyst

All in all you'll need:
5 Vortex Shards
3 Vortex Cysts
2 Dark Vortex Cysts
2 Glowing Vortex Cysts

To get these different Vortex Cysts you need to progress the story (or explore the planet) and defeat different types of Vortex Horrors (kill 25 of those for another achievement), these Vortex Horrors can drop one of the three different Cysts you need to craft the Vortex Grenades.

Vortex Shards drop from the Vortex entities/phantoms that you meet in the Oracle and in the new planet "Va'ruun'kai".

The Vortex Horrors glow just like the entities/phantoms, but instead of human entities they are different monsters/beasts like for example a huge Crab entity (usually called "Hunting Rocky Bonecrest" when you find the in the wild around the planet).

These Vortex Horrors can have names like "Vile Vortex Horror" or "Dim Vortex Spawn".

Kill these Vortex Horrors to get Vortex Cysts like Dark Vortex Cyst, Glowing Vortex Cyst and Vortex Cyst to get enough to craft all 5 Vortex Grenades on a Industrial Workbench in an outpost or in your ship if you have put one there.

^ Agree, any location? Somehow I dont have the 25 kills as well, but its also near impossible to get the bugs to spawn, then get the right bug, and then they have the dark cyst you need. Too much RNG, sitting at 4/5 grenades for a day.

Ok so if you guys just reload a save from before and replay the mission the other side, instead of running out the cave from the horrors kill each of them and You should get enough mats for each grenade, I done it this way but for some reason the game has bugged out some of the achievements for me

Thank you, Colzzh! Had a save just before entering the cave so that was perfect! Hope you're able to get those achievements to pop soon. 👍

After finishing the dlc this was my last achievement
luckily I had a save from before I accepted the quest to go in the cave but after a few hours of running around last night in the game

I cannot see any other way to get the achievement other than getting everything you need in the cave

I can confirm that you are able to get all the ingredients by landing on random spots of the planet and killing enemies. However, I've only gotten 4 Dark Vortex Cysts and 1 Glowing Vortex Cysts in 3 hours of landing, killing enemies, rinse, repeat. It is a good way to knock out Redeemed and Vortex Horrors though.

@Everdred What did you kill to get Glowing Cysts when landing at random spots?

Solution for people who’ve finished the main questline. Most of these glowing enemies are around the sacred citadel. When there are no more spawns go to venus and sleep 24h. Go back to the sacred citadel and they should all have respawned (there are quite a few in the rocky surroundings). As soon as you encounter a horror, save the game. Kill it, if it doesn’t have the cyst you’re looking for simply reload and kill it again.

If you didn't pick up all the cysts early in the DLC in the cave, (especially if you have one left to get, like the Glowing Cyst) wait 'til you're doing the 'Conflict in Conviction' mission and searching for Vaeric.

At the abandoned camp, you'll look for the tracker, the vortex spawn, the footprints and a bloodstain. Save your game just before the last of the four things is left. Arm up, two horrors spawn straight afterwards. Reload the game until you get the cyst you need.

Fast travel back to the landing pad and an industrial workbench for the grenades is through the entrance to town, straight up the right hand staircase and inside the steel building on the left.

I was missing one glowing cyst, I ran circles probably for an hour shooting phantoms and should a horror spawn, it never gave anything. I then reloaded a spot before "The Other Side" mission, got the cysts in like couple of minutes and upon returning to the city went to the industrial work bench and this horrible achievement was finally bagged, closing this awfully mediocre DLC.
