You have to physically go to each of 50 locations to where it pops up on the screen. Simply highlighting it through the scanner to get the name to pop up does not count. Remember, ones in black with images haven't been visited. Ones in white with images on the map have.

Just to add clarification for anyone, any points on Va'ruun'kai will do - it does not have be around Dazra. Dazra has a LOT of locations around it, but if you wish, you can just go out into the wilds of the planet from Point of Interest to Point of Interest and knock this out with caves, traits, and structures.

Do you have to progress through the main story for places to discover? None of mine are even in the city

Edit* turns out its the escape dlc from creation club that causes it if not completed

Can confirm there are enough locations around Dazra to unlock this. There are 48 in the area around the city itself (the square shaped area on the map with the rocky mountainous terrain, just pop open the local map and you will see what i mean), three in the lake area east and south-east of the city and a WAY out from the city there is a ring of locations that surround the entire area.

Here's a picture of my map when the achievement unlocked, as well as a zoom in on the city since some of the icons overlap. You can go anywhere on the planet and find locations, but I remained in the general area near Darza.
