How to unlock the Singularity achievement in Steredenn: Binary Stars - Definitive Guide
First, to help clarify the achievement requirement, you must beat the game twice in one playthrough. The achievement states to finish the first loop, but technically the game starts on loop zero (you can see your current loop on the Game Over screen). So the 'first' loop is actually your second run through. You can verify this progress through your achievement progression bar for the achievement.
First Loop:
The second run through the game is a bit harder. The enemy selections and patterns seem to be a little tougher, but the biggest difference is that all enemies now shoot additional shots upon thier death (number and pattern of shots depend on the specific enemy). The other big difference is that all bosses now create those annoying shield squares to make the fights take longer and require you to mix up your strategy.
On the plus side, you will begin the new loop with all weapons and power-up perks up to this point, so if you had a good setup for the first run through you will have a huge advantage, not to mention you will now have new opportunities to get new weapons and more powerups.
Strategies:
There are some useful videos performing loop runs on Youtube that focus on using the Shockwave and Death Ray weapons. While I agree that Shockwave is the best weapon for completing loops (Destroys small enemies easily, wipes out all bullets in radius, and destroys those annoying shield squares), I don't like using the Death Ray. Even though it is the most powerful attack, it reduces your movement speed to the point where you leave yourself very vulnerable.
You can really use any combinations of weapons (or at least, the best combination you happen to come across during your play). When I got the achievement, I didn't have the luxury of seeing the Shockwave powerup, so I ended up using Homing Missiles (with the power up for increased radius and mini-missiles) and the Reflector powerup (with Increased length and quicker recovery perk). I highly recommend getting the perk for building a shield when not firing. Just be careful that you establish a good strategy for building it up while not allowing the enemies to overwhelm you. Other useful perks are: +2 Health, Temporarily absorb lasers, transfer damage when getting hit (i forget the exact wording), and any perks specific to your weapon choices. If you are using the rebuildable shield, try to have a perk for autofiring (autocannon for bullets, raygun for lasers, etc).
Before making your attempt for the achievement, you should obviously spend some time practicing boss fights in the Arena. You have the option of picking your weapons, so you can practice different strategies. It is also a good idea to complete boss runs using only the blaster. It allows you to memorize patterns more effectively and will help with the Blaster only achievement.
Note:
The achievement will not unlock until you die, so don't get nervous when it doesn't pop after finishing the loop.

I finally managed it using the shockwave/homing missile. Shockwave or Reflector really do seem to be a requirement for completeing the loop.

My personal tips:
The hyperblaster and the shockwave got me trough this. Most important upgrades for me were: bullet and energy upgrades, weapons break enemy shields (very important for hyperblaster), +2 health points (many of these), weapons deal +10% damages (and many of these too).
Other great weapons to use: Flamethrower, stasis gun, homing rockets (these three with mini rockets and increased range upgrade), Reflector (with last longer and recharge faster upgrade, be careful when using this), impaler, shotgun (both of these with reload faster and semi-auto weapons become full-auto upgrades, surprisingly good, despite dealing yellow damage to most enemies and bosses), laser, ultralaser, plasma gun.
Avoid bots and contact weapons like the plague.
I sat most of times 3/4 of the screen to the right and used the shockwave during levels mostly, I would charge it fully every time between waves and waited every time until there were as many enemies on screen as I could get before releasing it, dodging attacks as much as I could (I would release it early if I was in danger of getting hit). Then, depending on the situation and enemies left, I would either charge up a second shockwave or mop up with the hyperblaster (if there were big enemies in the wave). I used the hyperblaster on bosses.
Some notable times during boss fights to use the shockwave (almost) fully charged:
Cruiser: 1st phase, get rid of green bullets to give yourself more breathing room; when the ship goes low and fires green bullets upwards, which explode into small blue bullets (duck under the cruiser and use shockwave if you're about to be hit by a blue bullet towards the end).
Carrier: get rid of blue shield instantly; right after it fires green bullets horizontally, if you get that far in the fight.
Battleship: maybe at the final phase, if the pink bullets volley traps you in a corner, but it would be better just to prevent getting trapped. Practice in the arena dodging at the final phase without going behind the battleship, when it comes really close to the left edge of the screen. If you gotta take a hit, make sure you hit the little blue bullets (they take away only 1 HP instead of 2 HP from a pink bullet).
Mothership: basically all attacks which involve slow moving bullets (use shockwave to quickly move out of laser's line of fire or if you feel like you're gonna get cornered to the left edge of the screen, etc.); also, when the mothership opens its mouth and fires that big pink bullet, which splits into green bullets and then small blue bullets, use shockwave to clear the blue bullets.
Bosses during 1st loop: To clear up blue shields, if too many are in your way, but by this time, your hyperblaster should be upgraded enough to make quick work of them.
If you're far away from a boss, use the hyperblaster in long bursts, to prevent your bullets from spreading, keep them all focused on the boss. This applies during levels as well.
The note in this guide is still valid. After you finish your first loop, it might be tempting to just keep going for leaderboard scores or whatnot, BUT if your game or console freezes or your power gets interrupted, you'll lose the achievement and will have to complete the first loop all over again! DON'T JINX IT!!! Just let yourself die to secure the achievement.
