I just farmed this at the beginning on the game. Your craft will take about 9 hits to be destroyed and be invulnerable for a very short time after being hit.
If you just continually run into enemy fighters without shooting, you can take damage while also destroying them. This will also add to your Kill XX amount of enemies achievements. If you follow their patterns you can kill a couple of them from just one hit of damage to you.
FYI Certain enemies (like the chainsaw looking fighters) can't be killed this way. So I just let them kill me when they showed up.
All in all took me about 20 minutes to farm.
