How to unlock the Helping hand achievement in The Ascent - Definitive Guide

This can be achieved in couch co-op mode with two gamepads. Make sure not to use a character that you have progressed far into the game with, since the game may override your progress.

To be safe before you start create two new save files. Then start a couch co-op game using a guest profile for the second gamepad.

You will start at the tutorial section after character customisation. Progress until you meet the enemies called dregs, whose attack pattern is to charge and attack in melee range. Let one of the characters be hit enough to go into a downed state (you will see a skull icon with a timer over the downed character). Kill the dregs with the other character then hold x next to the downed character. Cheevo!

A bugged game is one thing, but bugged achievements are much worse imo

I didn't go for any of the co op stuff until they were my last two and I still had both codex ones glitched.

WARNING! It seems that switching saves/profiles can stop/reset progress towards other achievements, so do this AFTER finishing up other achievements.

@WhyattThrash I'm legit worried that me trying to get that achievement screwed up the rest of them. They need to fix this game

waited until every other cheevo was fixed before trying this and that was my last. takes maybe 2-3 minutes to reach first mob that downs partner. upvote +1

If anyone is attempting do this on the PC version I'd suggest installing the game on your console if possible. Much easier. Didn't even need to use a dummy account.

How do I get this achievement on PC with keyboard and 1 controller?

I just unlocked this on PC and you can't use keyboard + one controller, you have to use two controllers. I used Xbox One and Series controllers, both plugged in wired. For some reason the game didn't recognize my PS5 controller at all, but Xbox pads worked just fine.

I somehow cannot start a couch coop game. As soon as I sign in the guest profile it takes me back to the main screen (Press A to Start) Then I have to choose my main profile. When I try to start Couch Coop I can not join with the other gamepad. In fact both gamepads are then doing the same thing.

WTF am i doing wrong????

In co-op, you must have a partner die and then hold button-x.png to revive them.

You can get it on one console using two gamepads, it is advisable to create two new saves so as not to spoil the main one.

Select a game over the local network, call any friend via SharePlay (he doesn’t need to have the game itself), then he dies from enemies, and you pick him up.
