The Ascent

You'll come across many vending machines during your playthrough, which can be used to buy items with uCreds to replenish your health, energy or tactical charge. If for some reason you cannot find any, you can also look for the vending machine icons on the mini-map. To unlock this achievement, you need to get these items by destroying AND hacking vending machines, instead of just buying them.

Destroying vending machines

This one is very simple. Just shoot one until it explodes and collect the item(s).

Hacking vending machines

This one requires a bit more work. First, to be able to hack vending machines, you need to find Cyberdeck upgrades. With each upgrade, your Cyberdeck becomes more powerful with increased capabilities. For hacking vending machines, you need to find (at least) 4 upgrades so that your Cyberdeck level is Plug or higher. You can check your Cyberdeck level in the Journal's Character screen. The locations of these upgrades are included below. Once you have the necessary upgrades, you can hack any vending machine by holding near it.

Cyberdeck Upgrade Locations

Some upgrades you will naturally come across during main and side missions, others you will find as you explore the world and in certain chests. I've made a map with the locations of these Cyberdeck upgrades (CDU) including text descriptions and images on where to find them. I have also added the list of Cyberdeck levels and corresponding abilities.
I have used spoiler tags for potential story spoilers or if you just want to find them on your own.
