How to unlock the Everything Must Go achievement in The Outer Worlds - Definitive Guide

This can be easily accomplished at the General Store in Edgewater and also works at any vendor or vending machine. Save your game and then unequip all weapons, armor and consumables prior to entering the trade screen and then sell all your items to the vendor. Next, switch to the Buy screen and use the buyback tab on the far right to buy the items for the same price you sold them for. You can buy and sell the same items multiple times and each time you sell it will count towards the 10,000 bits.

The more items you have in your inventory the quicker this will be, but could be done 1 bit at a time. If you have 1,000 bits worth of items you would need to repeat 10 times to get the 10,000 needed for the achievement

I've found that you can't cheat the system too much (i.e. reloading a save and selling the same equipment will not add to the tracker). In my case it had to be unique items sold. Wouldn't be a problem if you had a large inventory of items with a value over 10,000 however.

I am not saying to save and reload. The save is so you don't have to reconfigure your character after unequipping and selling everything. In one instance of entering the trade screen you can sell all your items on the sell screen (RB) and then go to the Buy screen (LB) and go to Buyback tab all the way to the right using RT and repurchase that same equipment for the same price you just sold it for. Rinse and repeat until achievement unlock.

Does this have to be done at a general store or is it combined with vending machines?

I would assume this would also work at a vending machine as the buyback option is available with those as well.

@noheroes94 It's not save and reload. It's buy and sell within the same transaction, are you saying this no longer works?

This works at general stores too. I just got the achievement at the female vendor right before you exit for Stellar Bay in Monarch.

This doesn't work for me - tracker stops without "genuine" progress. I tried making a new save and re-loading the old one and that doesn't work either. Same with medical inhaler.

- For this one there is a little "trick" where the Vending machines actually let you "Buy-Back" your sold items for the same price! You can then sell all of your items again and re-buy them. Repeating that process until you have the achievement :P

- The more valuables you have on hand the faster this process will be

- See an example in the video above

- Remember the SAVE trick to help you grind this out faster
One trick that helps with all of the "do this X amount of times" cheevs...use the SAVE feature to RELOAD SAVES helping you grind those out easier. *However people have said that it can cause the tracker to stop going up...so if this happens, try saving after you do one run, SAVE on a new file, then RELOAD the old one. Rinse & Repeat.

I got Adelaide's Watch from Adelaide. It sells for 1,750 Bits. You can sell it, then buy it back and sell it again (for the price you bought it). Repeat the process a few more times to get the achievement.

It's junk anyway, so you really don't need it.

NOTE: Do NOT try to save, sell, and reload because it won't work (and would take longer anyway). Simply sell the watch, then buy it back from the vender, then sell it again. I did this myself, and can confirm it works. It shouldn't take much more than a few seconds.

The achievement unlocks when you receive your 10,000th bit from sale of items to vendors and vending machines. It will, almost certainly, come naturally following normal play as you generate cash by selling your loot throughout the game.

Nevertheless, you can grind it very early in the game even with very little loot collected. Go to the Cantina or General Store in Edgewater or other vendor of your choice. Make a save or rely on the auto-save created upon entering town. Sell all your items (Press cn_X to talk to the vendor and choose the conversational option for Trade. This brings up the vendor screen. Press cn_RB to sell. Sell all your items by highlighting each one and pressing cn_A. If you have more than one item of a type, you will be prompted to select the quantity. Press cn_RB to select the maximum.

Do NOT exit the merchant screen after selling your items. Instead, press cn_LB to choose the buy screen. Press cn_LT to go to the "Buy - Buyback" screen. There, buy back all your items at the same price you sold them for. Following that, press cn_RB to choose the sell screen and sell them all to the vendor once again. Continue this process of selling and buying back until the achievement pops. Reload the auto-save or manual save you made just prior to the grind to avoid the impact of the frivolous transactions.

If you, inadvertently, back out of the merchant screen; don't worry. Items you sell to a vendor are available to buy back at the sell price for a while after the original transactions.

The trophy is accumulative as long as you sell enough to the Vendors or the Machines to unlock the trophy.

There are two perks that can help, one is in Tier One and gives 20% more value to what you sell.
The other is in Tier 3 and gives another slight boost.

Both of these make it quicker. But it may be possible to do this in natural game play.

This one is quite obvious. It should come naturally, though if you want to save and dump your entire inventory then buy stuff with the profits and repeat until it unlocks, that's a nice way to get it out of the way early.

It will drop on its own if you sell things. But you can do it through downloading. Saved in front of the merchant - sold - loaded - sold - repeated.
