The Outer Worlds

The achievement unlocks when you use the Discrepancy Amplifier for the first time. It is part of Murder on Eridanos for The Outer Worlds. Once the DLC is installed and begun, the achievement is story related and cannot be missed.

During the quest, The Last Role of Halcyon Helen, follow the quest marker and talk to Constable Keene. During the conversation, Dr. Goodnight gives you the Discrepancy Amplifier, a forensic tool. Equip it in a weapon slot. Press to zoom in on Helen's body. Footprints next to the body become visible. Press to analyze them and pop the achievement.

Note: Screenshots taken on the Spacer's Choice edition where the achievement earns you only 10 GS in contrast to the 15 earned in the Murder on Eridanos for The Outer Worlds DLC.

At the very beginning of the DLC shortly after arriving on Eridanos, you will be introduced to Constable Keene and Dr. Goodnight as part of The Last Role of Halcyon Helen quest. Following the dialogue, Dr. Goodnight will give you the Discrepancy Amplifier to aid in identifying clues in the murder mystery.

The Discrepancy Amplifier must be equipped in a weapon slot from the inventory . To use it, hold and look next to Helen’s corpse to identify some footprints. Press to use the amplifier on the footprints, completing the quest and unlocking the achievement.
