How to unlock the Tossball All Star achievement in The Outer Worlds - Definitive Guide

These are melee weapons that resemble lacrosse sticks, you can find one of them very early to the right of the workbench in your ship. Passive creatures also count towards this, a lot of my kills came from Sprats, the little green lizard type animals. There are a few pockets of these alongside the outer walls of Edgewater, they will respawn after enough time has passed, if you crouch before killing them it will also count towards the 50 stealth kills achievement.

If you are looking for a tossball stick, I found one in a vending machine right below where you dock in stellar Bay.

Re-spec into melee and do regular opponents with a 410 dps blocker, or smash the rows of cystypigs in Slaughterhouse Clive mission repeatedly.

I just left the tossball stick in my 4th weapon slot and crouch-hit every sprat, snake and chicken I came across. Easy way to do it and no grinding necessary.

The companion Felix carries a tossball stick in my game. You can just snag it off him.

- Any kills with the Tossball Stick or Blocker will count towards this

- If you carry one with you there's lots of opportunities to get kills with it through the game exploring

- If you use the Save Trick you can just go to the C&P Boarst Factory with all the Cystypigs

- Remember the SAVE trick to help you grind this out faster
One trick that helps with all of the "do this X amount of times" cheevs...use the SAVE feature to RELOAD SAVES helping you grind those out easier. *However people have said that it can cause the tracker to stop going up...so if this happens, try saving after you do one run, SAVE on a new file, then RELOAD the old one. Rinse & Repeat.

I found a very good place to get this and a lot of the other achievements which require you to grind kills.

When you get to Fallbrook on the planet Monarch, you can find someone called Catherine Malin who will give you the quest ‘Slaughterhouse Clive’.

When you get to the front gates, save before entering.

1. Clear out the few enemies at the front and get the key off the leader.

2. Enter the compound and defeat the enemies in this area..

3. After a couple of rooms you will be in a large room downstairs where they keep all the live cysty pigs. All these pigs count as kills.

4. There’s another room after the pig room with enemies too.

5. Once the place is cleaned out - reload your save. Rinse and repeat.

Edit:

You can also enter the pig room by a secret passage near the waterfall (left hand side from the main entrance).

Sometimes when I reloaded the game it would stop counting on the tracker. To fix this, just reload the save and check it again after a couple of kills. It will start working again because this happened to me.

Easiest way to get this is respec to max out your 1 handed, tinker the tossball stick/blocker to as much as you can afford, save, and run through Groundbreaker or Byzantium killing civvies in one hit.

The achievement unlocks after you kill your 50th enemy with either a tossball stick or tossball blocker. The first tossball stick you are likely to find is in your spaceship, the Unreliable, on crates stacked to the right of the workbench.

There are numerous tossball sticks and blockers scattered throughout the game including a few in Edgewater, the first town you'll come across. Equip a tossball stick &/or blocker. Any enemy killed with these weapons will count towards the achievement. That includes the small sprats prevalent throughout the game and, normally, friendly NPCs.

If you have a build optimized for melee combat--high strength & dexterity especially when placing an emphasis on the 2-handed melee skill--the achievement should pop easily in normal game play regardless of difficulty. Remember to use the tossball stick or blocker whenever convenient.

If playing a character with low melee skills especially on supernova difficulty, the achievement becomes more challenging. You may want to grind specifically for the achievement.

Supernova difficulty grind with low melee skilled player-character (This approach also works for any difficulty and any character build):
--For convenience, turn on the achievement tracker. Designate this achievement as a favorite so you can track its progress.
Note 1: All kills made in sneak mode count towards the following achievement. If you want to grind for it as well, designate it as a favorite as well so you can track both it and:
The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice EditionNever SeenThe Never Seen achievement in The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition worth 26 pointsKill 50 enemies with sneak attacks.

--Proceed through the game until you reach the town of Edgewater. Avoid killing sprats.
--Return to your ship make sure you pick up the tossball stick to the right of the workbench. Equip it.
Image 1

--Sleep till night-time. Make a manual save on the ship. Make note of it and don't over-write it until after you get the achievement.
--Return to Edgewater. Enter the main entrance and immediately exit again. This banks an auto-save.
--Double-check to make sure the tosser stick is equipped and it is the active weapon.
--Turn left as soon as you exit back out of town and circumvent the perimeter of the town counter-clockwise. Note a Spacer's Choice poster on the wall to your left that says, "Taste the Freedom" and turn the corner.
--Shortly after you turn the corner, you will come across a number of sprats. They will be asleep and are not easy to spot. The first is near the base of a big vertical pipe running down a structure to the right. The remaining four are on an approximate line between that sprite and the corner to your front left. Crouch and approach each one.
--Optionally, invoke tactical time dilation (TTD), cn_RB, for extra damage and kill each sprat (cn_RT).
--After you have the 5 sprites, proceed around the perimeter to the far side of town wrt the main entrance just around the corner of what is depicted as the 'junkyard' on your map. There is no need to go into the junkyard.
--Kill another 6 sleeping sprats while crouching.
--After killing as many of the 11 sprats as is convenient, reload the auto-save you banked when you entered town.
--Repeat the process killing another 11 sprats or so and reload the banked auto-save.
--Continue killing sprats around town's perimeter & reloading the banked auto-save when you run out of targets.
--Some sprats are well hidden and hard to find If you have trouble spotting them, ignore them and reload the banked auto-save before you reach the 11 count.
--Keep an eye on the tracker. When you have killed 50 sprats, the tracker will get to 100% and the achievement will pop. Similarly, once you get 50 sneak kills, the Never Seen achievement will also pop.
Note 2: If you, accidentally or intentionally, lose the banked auto-save, reload the manual save you made on the ship. You will retain all progress towards the achievement. Return to town, make another banked auto-save at the entrance by entering & immediately exiting. Resume progress towards the achievement by (sneak) killing sprats around the perimeter.

Note 3: The sprats can also be killed during the day but they will be active. They are very quick so killing them is more of a challenge and it is harder to get sneak kills.

In this video guide I will show you how to kill 50 enemies with a tossball stick or tossball blocker. Now first things first. If you started your character right off the bat with increasing the Strength and Dexterity attributes. The damage will for melee weapons will be greater. Also making this achievement easier. Another way to make this easier would be to put points into the melee category under skills. There aren't really any perks to help out with this.

You can find several areas on Monarch to get either the tossball stick or tossball blocker. You can find them in areas to loot, or by someone selling them. I found a tossball blocker in the buildings to the left of where you land on the planet. You can also get one by completing the guys quest for returning his poster. He will be the first person you automatically talk to when you land on the planet. There is also one to buy in the town called Fallbrook. You can buy the tossball stick in a town call Amber Heights, in Tera One Publications.

A good spot to get kills for this would be on Monarch. Look to the South by the water. There will be a factory called: C&P Boarst Factory. Head there and once you get there make a manual save. Now go ahead and kill everything in the factory. Including all the people, pigs, robots, and don't forget the worms on the floor count as well. Once you are done reload the manual save and keep going until the progress stops.

Now this is very important. You won't get progress for the same exact enemy. So when you kill someone with the tossball blocker once, it won't count again. Just keep going after the factory if you need more kills. Once you get the final tossball kill the achievement will pop.

I can confirm this still works, even after the latest update (Sep-20). Thanks bro.

Tossball weapons are a bit more rare than other weapon types (though much more common in the first half of the game oddly). Sticks are two-handed melee weapons, while blockers are one-handed. Once you find one, I'd suggest sticking with it until you get the achievement, then you can go back to something more your playstyle or work on another one of the combat-related achievements.

Tossball sticks are found everywhere and even on dead corpses.

If you're very unlucky, steal Felix's by giving him a different melee weapon. It's good to use an damage mod to make it easier. Tinkering it upto at least 130 base damage also helps. When you hit level 13, all marauders on Edgewater are normally a one hit kill.

With companions active it might take a little longer as they kill people for you, it's not advised to wander out without them if you're on hard mode or above though.
