Just note Barrels are target-able. You may actually miss this in normal play, though that's unlikely if you are using flame or AoE weapons (Kai, Harald).

Best bet to get this out of the way is just to shoot any around when you are resting / healing between spawn points. They will damage you if in an adjacent square so be aware of this as well.

Note also that they are far more common in earlier campaigns as well.
