How to unlock the A Formidable Foe Has Fallen! achievement in 3D Dot Game Heroes - Definitive Guide

Impossible to miss. After the prologue, you will be given a sword and shield by the King of Dotnia. You will then be asked to go to the Sacred Forest to retrieve the Ancient Sword. Just before you reach the weapon, you will have to battle against two Guardians. These foes are large statues that leap into the air and attempt to crush you under their feet. Strike each of these enemies three times to defeat them. The trophy will unlock immediately after defeating them.

Plot-based. Just before receiving the Ancient Sword, you will need to break two stone guards into 3D dots. They are taken out with three hits each, nothing complicated. Just when the big guy lands after a jump, hit him.
