How to unlock the Passed the citadel achievement in A Boy and His Blob - Definitive Guide

I found the citadel boos to be annoying so I'm going to post what I did (after like 1000 deaths) to finally get him.

First to describe the boss' attacks. He only drops blobs from the sky in a few patterns. For me he dropped blobs in either a left to right or right to left pattern until the fight reached a certain point. The ground will get a shadow to let you know where the blob is going to go so you can get to a clear spot. Also, if you get too close to the boss he'll swipe you and kill you. This is annoyingly important later.

First thing I did was drop a ladder bean on the very left side of the screen then run back to the middle to wait for the blob drops. I found it important to take time and wait for these attacks as every time I got impatient I'd be stuck on a ladder or jack and get killed. After the blob drop head up the ladder and push the rock over towards the right. You'll want to get it over to just under the right side/shallow dip in the ground on the third level. Jump over the rock and fall down to the right to the first level, wait for the next blob drop.

Second task is to get a jack bean on the bottom level under the rock, call your blob to eat it, and jack the rock up the whole way to the third level. You'll then want to recall blob and immediately drop a ladder bean where the jack was. I had time to do all this before the next blob drop. After the attack go up the ladder and throw a clone bean up on the third level to the left of the rock you jacked up and send your blob up to eat it.

It was at this point that the boss attack blob patterns changed to be a bunch of blobs all at once instead of across the screen. Now for the second most annoying part. You have to get your clone to push the rock to the right but since he's pushing a rock he goes much slower than you. What I ended up doing was walking right until I got somewhat close to the boss (this is where his swipe attack got really annoying) and then running the whole way left till your clone reaches his left wall. This whole time you have to dodge blob drops. You'll know you have the rock in place when your blob changes out of the clone form.

Now comes the most annoying step of all. You have to drop the jack bean to the left of the boss under the pressure button on the bottom of the third level. Then you need to jack the whole way up to engage the button. Here's where I died a ton because it is easy to get stuck on the jack handle when the blob drops come down. I ended up doing like two presses of the jack then getting off it so I could dodge, two presses, dodge etc until the button was hit. This will pull back a column and the rock will drop down in front of it. Call your blob back and the button will let go, column shoots out, and rock falls on the boss. End of fight.

Story related and cannot be missed.

Citadel world consists of eight stages and a boss fight.

The emperor boss can be tricky. Thankfully, you only need to hit him once.

Use the trampoline to get yourself up to the ledge above your starting position. Push the rock under the top ledge, then use the jack to raise it up to the top ledge. Toss a clone jellybean behind the rock so the blob can push it past the spikes and onto the darker ledge – that's as far as you need to go. Once the rock is positioned, use the jack to push the ceiling switch under the spikes AND release it, and the rock will hit the emperor, defeating him.

What makes this boss tricky is that he rains enemies down on you. Watch the ground for the shadows of falling enemies, and jump across them when they're coming down in a row. Otherwise, find a safe spot to stand. Don't get greedy with your movements; be patient, and you'll do fine.
