To be able to charge a homing missile you must first have entered Dog Fighting Mode (DFM). In this mode you will be directly behind the enemy plane. In the middle of your screen will figure a more or less large circle. The closer you are to the enemy the bigger the circle.
Keep the enemy plane inside the circle and you will notice a second circle growing in a clockwise fashion inside the initial circle. The charge speed depends on your ability to keep the circle centred on the enemy. Fill this circle completely and fire a missile using
. Depending on the enemy it might take several missiles as he might have a lot of health or use a flare.
Using your machine gun by pressing the
will somewhat "stun" the enemy plane and you will have an easier time locking on. This effect depends on the difficulty level you are playing at.

This will most likely be the first trophy you get. When you learn about DFM mode in the tutorial, wait until the target circle is red before you fire your missile - if the enemy plane blows up, trophy will pop.
