A Direct Shot is when you go into DFM and fire a missile when the enemy is in the very center of the assault circle, resulting in a one-hit kill. Do this five times - easily done in the first mission, if you take regular enemies into DFM - and that's it. Just get someone into DFM, put them in the center of the circle, charge a missile, and fire.
If you're having trouble: Whenever you have an enemy chasing you in DFM, and you do an evasive move with LB+RB, this tends to put them right in the center of the assault circle.

Chances are you’ll get this either the first or the second time you pilot a jet. The best planes to do this with are ones which appear as green on your radar, you need to take them out with one shot/a fully charged up shot in DFM. To do this, lock onto a plane and enter DFM mode, wait until the circle turns red then fire your missile.
For faster results, switch to quick manoeuvre missiles as they do more damage and put the difficulty to rookie.
