How to unlock the Tea Party achievement in Alice: Madness Returns - Definitive Guide

'Ruin Barriers' are the thick goo that usually blocks your path and/or hidden areas, these barriers will also have the 'Doll' heads found on the 'Ruin Enemies' scattered about. In order to destroy one, you'll have to clear any given area of all enemies, this will suck the life form out of the barrier, and turn it into a breakable 'Grey' rock. Do this 10 times, and the achievement will be yours.

This should come naturally as you progress through the story, seeing as there's well over 10 barriers you'll have to destroy in order to proceed.

NOTE: It's believed that using the Hobby Horse to destroy barriers is the only weapon that adds to the counter, so should you come across a barrier, make sure you pull out your sledge and smash it with that. Thanks to Flopsy86 for bringing this to my attention.

That's exactly where I got it as well, I believe there's 3-4 barriers on that gazebo alone. So that's most likely where the majority of us will get it.

Is this glitched does anyone know please? I am on my second play through (new game plus) and it still hasn't popped, but I must have destroyed at least 30!

Just read on x360a that people who weren't having it pop were using the bombs or the teapot to destroy the barriers. They think using the hobby horse only counts as it is the only weapon which Alice is physically destroying the barriers.
Switched to the hobby horse at that famous place with the 6 barriers on a gazebo and the achievement popped straightaway.

Was wondering if the Knightmare version of the Hobby Horse counts: it does.

I destroyed a few a couple days ago with my Hobby Horse. Today I destroyed 1 with my teapot cannon and at least 11 with my Hobby Horse over the course of a few minutes. Where's my achievement?

Thumbs up. I'd like to confirm that the hobby horse is not the only weapon that counts towards the achievement. It popped for me when I used the Teapot Cannon. I'd only destroyed a couple of the barriers with the Teapot Cannon so, obviously, the Hobby Horse's broken barriers also counted towards the achievement.

Specifically, I got it in Chapter 4, LABYRINTHINE REVENGE, on the gazebo. I guess it could come earlier or later, depending on if you missed some, or got more than me.

Hmm, that's weird:/ I honestly don't know what to say to that. Now that you mention it though, I can almost certainly recall destroying way more than 10 barriers when I unlocked mine. Maybe there's only a certain kind of barrier that counts towards this achievement?
My only advice would be to simply destroy every barrier you come across, which should almost certainly give you the achievement at some point. I know that's pretty self explanatory, but I don't actually think the achievement is glitched, try looking for barriers that aren't placed directly in your lap so to speak. Anyway, good luck, hope things work out for you.

Ruin barriers look like black goop with a doll mask that block your travel. Destroy 10 to unlock the achievement.

These are the ink blot barriers that can’t break until you kill all the enemies that are in the area. They look like big spider webs with doll faces on them. They shine when they are breakable and are mostly in areas that are blocked off until the barrier is broken. You should earn this trophy in chapter four (there is an area where there are six ruin barriers that are breakable), after going through the door that is in the middle of nothing (Story related). You will first need to defeat the enemies in that area to make the Barriers breakable. You can either use the Teapot cannon or the Hobby Horse to break them.

You will come across barriers made of mucus on your way, with doll masks glued into them, blocking your path. There will definitely be enemies nearby. Once destroyed, the slime will turn into glass. After this, you can break this barrier and continue on your way. Break 10 such barriers and the achievement is yours. In Chapter 4 you will definitely get it - there will be a gazebo hung with similar barriers. I read somewhere that you need to break it with a teapot cannon, but for me it was revealed when destroyed with a horse bat.
