How to unlock the Against the Odds achievement in Alien Breed: Impact - Definitive Guide

For this trophy you have to complete the single player story on Elite Difficulty. Elite is a step up as the aliens are faster and do alot more damage. Overall, it's not hugely difficult, though.

  • First of all, take your time! Don't go charging in or it will all be over very quickly.

  • Although it is easier said than done, don't let them surround you. If you get ambushed or run into large numbers of aliens, don't be afraid to retreat back to a better location to take them on - e.g. lead them through a door or another type of narrow passageway. This will make the fight alot easier.

  • You should still be searching all corpses and lockers for items/credits/ammo. These things are alot more important on Elite.

  • Don't forget your grenades. They can be a life saver if you are in danger of being overwhelmed. Frag Grenades you throw can damage you so be careful. Don't throw them at an enemy that is directly in front of you.

  • Upgrades aren't really necessary, but that is up to you. I spent the majority of my credits on ammo. You should buy Hardened Armor when you can though, as it's the best item for restoring your health. It fills your bar with the armor and then after that runs out your health is completely restored so use them when your health is low.

  • When exploring and taking on smaller numbers of aliens, try and use the weaker weapons. It's difficult to get away with using the blaster on anything other than the smallest aliens so use assault rifle and save laser rifle ammo for bigger and tougher fights.

  • Turrets are helpful in the early levels but during level 5 you are now their target. You will come across most of the turrets in the level before they are activated so use this opportunity to dispose of them with ease. Use your blaster to save ammo.

I found an interesting bug that allows you to drag all the weapons, items and money that the player has at the time of killing the last boss on the lowest difficulty. The sequence is:

1. We go through the game on the lowest difficulty. Try to save first aid kits and money as much as possible, buy armor in all terminals where they are available. As far as upgrades go, limit yourself to purchasing a damage boost for the assault rifle.

2. We save before the last boss, in the terminal that is right in front of his room.

3. Start the game on Elite difficulty. We reach the first terminal WITHOUT COLLECTING ANYTHING along the way. Let's save.

4. Load the save with the boss and brutally kill him. We skip the video, see the inscription about the continuation and immediately load our save with Elite difficulty.

All money, items, ammo and weapons (upgrades are not carried over) migrated to the current game. The list of weapons will not include a rifle, a shotgun, or a pistol. Now we select the shotgun lying right next to the terminal and rifle cartridges in one of the nearby rooms, after which they will again be present in the list. The pistol, alas, will no longer appear on the list, but who the hell needs it with 30k credits, 40 first aid kits and 10 body armor? After the transfer, do not forget to save.

Quite a simple trophy. At the first level, try to collect money and upgrade the damage of the very first assault rifle. No more improvements are needed; buy ammunition and first aid kits at the terminals. Move forward carefully, save often if you find yourself close to the terminals. One type of enemy loves to place blocks (at this moment they glow with electric light), knock down the block with a blow from the butt. Before the last level, try to get several bulletproof vests. Save your most powerful weapon for the boss of the game.

The best weapon to use is a flamethrower (just be careful, backing away); when it runs out, switch to an assault rifle. The pulse rifle is best used only against clusters of heavy enemies. Don't forget about flash grenades, they will help you get away with it more than once.
