Traits are unlocked on the end game screen after completing a successful Quick Game scenario, wherein the condition to unlock the trait is met.
The trait Expert is unlocked by bringing every trade bonus to the Eye. This is the only trait that can be done over multiple runs. The list of trades that have been brought to the Eye can be seen under the Profile option either in-game or on the Main Menu under the See trades tab. Anything without a highlighted circle has not been done yet. Herbalist only has 1 trade - the bottom trade is shared with Trapper/Hunter.
