Traits are unlocked on the end game screen after completing a successful Quick Game scenario, wherein the condition to unlock the trait is met.
The trait Levitation is unlocked by passing through a Sacred Lake halt. The types of halts are shown on the World Map, and a Sacred Lake halt appears with mystical buildings on it. The text when highlighted will confirm it's a Sacred Lake halt. Just map a course towards the halt, and as long as it's one of the stops before The Eye, this will unlock upon completion.
