Traits are unlocked on the end game screen after completing a successful Quick Game scenario, wherein the condition to unlock the trait is met.
The trait Scholar is unlocked by completing a run with the East Tribe. The East Tribe becomes available by completing a game with the West Tribe and a game with the South Tribe, and has a high Vagary intensity as its gimmick. Usage of the Council, with its ability to cancel Vagaries, as well as trade bonuses that award Knowledge Points for use in the Council is highly suggested to counter the worst of the Vagaries, such as Damaged Path which adds more resources required to travel to the next halt.
Apprentice, Simple-minded, and Test subject unlock alongside this achievement upon completion of the run.
