When going for fast lap times, it's important to learn how to use your boost efficiently.

When using boost, you will cap out at a top speed that is faster than the top speed attainable with just your engine speed.

I will refer to the boost top speed as "BTS" and the engine top speed as "ETS".

You reach your BTS after using a single fragment of burst, and for a brief period of time after letting go of your boost you will still remain at your BTS. Because of this, it is better to use your boost in squeezed single fragment bursts throughout the track rather than holding the boost for any extended duration of time.

As soon as you see your top speed begin to drop below the BTS, you should use a single fragment burst of boost to reach the BTS again.

On the majority of the tracks, you won't be able to use this method the entire time. So you'll have to prioritize where the best places are to use your boost. Coming out of turns (areas of a track where you are at minimal speed) should take the highest priority. Where as straights on a track (where you are at ETS) should take the lowest priority.

Once you have utilized the boost on every turn of a lap, it is okay to start bursting your boost on the straights of a track. Keep in mind that there are uphill sections as well on tracks that should take priority over normal straights.

Remember to keep your health at full when hot-lapping. Any fragments of health missing will slow down your car's speed. Because of this, be sure to use the pit on each preparation hot lap. The pits will also refill boost and on some tracks it is actually faster to boost through the pit at the end into the finish.

Be sure to also follow basic racing logic such as taking the apex of a turn in the most efficient manner possible:

The green line represents the ideal way to hit the geometric center of the turn.

The last tip I can give is to make sure you use the best car for each track. You can do this by simply viewing the leaderboard and seeing what car the player in 1st place uses.

Use the Apex Class - Lampo Rosso car. It has a lot of turbo. Not that hard to do. Pretty much just do a clean lap use your turbo on the straights and at the last turn and you should get it.
