How to unlock the Calamity Kid achievement in Bastion - Definitive Guide

After completing the game once, you'll have two options to continue: New Game Plus, or Score Attack Mode.

However, this achievement's description is misleading. You can get it in either New Game Plus or Score Attack Mode. I just got it from Score Attack, and I never did NG+ (so, 100% completion, only 2 total playthroughs). If you'll want to do the Score Attack 1M achievement anyway, you might as well pick that mode.

New Game Plus is unlocked after you complete your first Normal mode playthrough. Aside from a few more idols & spirits, and the fact you get to keep your upgrades from your normal playthrough, it's identical.

attack mode for the 1M points achievement anyways, when you do this playthrough rush to the end (ie roll as much as you can, skip as much of the levels as you can, etc).

Anyone know if new game + will unlock if using no sweat mode? or must you play in normal?

Yes, New Game + and score attack mode will unlock after beating the game on No Sweat Mode. I used No Sweat Mode for my first playthrough to get a feel for things and to try to knock out some of the achievements, and mopped up the rest on Score Attack Mode once I had more of a feel for things.

Just finish the story and you will unlock New Game +. Choose it at the start screen and just run through the game once again. If you have all the other non story related achievements, you can finish it in about 90 minutes. Don't try to kill enemies unless you really want to and only fight when you have to defeat someone for the level to progress.

If you didn't get one of the achievements on you first run, just do it here. Everything will carry over except for a few Vigils like the one for doing the seven challenges. So it's better to finish those off on your first run.

Story related and cannot be missed.

Make sure you choose to be in "Score Attack Mode" when doing this, otherwise you will need at least a partial third playthrough to get that achievement separately.

If you're following this guide's roadmap, this trophy will unlock at the end of your second playthrough on Score Attack Mode.

Despite what the trophy description says, you can earn this trophy on Score Attack Mode, not just on New Game Plus mode. I am guessing the game's save file recognizes and knows you're on a second playthrough of the game regardless of which type of new game you choose.

After completing the game for the first time, New game+ opens. In terms of complexity, it is no different. We choose, go through and get the coveted achievement. To reduce time, we choose the end option that we did not use during the first playthrough.
