This can be a real tough achievements to get, if you dont play it right. I got busted when i got 98 butterflies. Here are some tipps
1) get the overall picture first.Where is which butterfly and which colour has this one
2) estimate your moves in advance. How many steps you can take until you got this particulare butterfly (DONT, i REPEAT DONT ever feel safe, cause those butterflies have a tendency to get killed pretty fast
3) kill the bottom row at all costs. Whenever you got the chance of clearing the lower parts of the stones with a big bang, DO IT without hesitation. Chance might be that some butterflies which have been considered dead for good, got a second chance of life by falling down some rows.
Update from Daddyfatchops: if you have a butterfly close to the top with no definite match to get rid of it, make matches underneath it, as this will make the butterfly not move up a space. if you make a horizontal match it will stay in the same spot for one more move, and a vertical match underneath it will drop it down 2 spots, buying you some more time.

Pretty easy achievement as long as you maintain the overall picture. I got this one on the first try as will many of you.
Focus on clearing as much butterflies on the bottom of the screen as possible (duh, what a surprise!). However don't be afraid to let some butterflies climb to the upper half of the screen. Some colours tend to stay on top of the screen due to few possible combos at the bottom. Just don't lose track of these butterflies and you're ok.
Try to get explosive combos. Some combos clear a big part of the entire screen. Even if they don't clear away a lot of butterflies, they buy you a lot of extra time to find the combo you need.
Some small combos take with them butterflies of a totally different colour if they're right next to it. Don't know why, because it has nothing to do with explosive combos but it's welcome nonetheless.
Above all do NOT believe the hints the game provides!!! Acting upon them will only result in safe and useless combos, and a rapid climb of all butterflies towards the top of the screen a.k.a. sure defeat.

You have to match gems near or on the butterflies to rescue them, if any reach the top the game is over. Try and match 4 or more to create special gems, these will help cause chains and explosions that free multiple butterflies in one move.
Also try and make horizontal matches rather than vertical, this will help knock down butterflies that are nearing the top rows.
