How to unlock the Aqua Incognita achievement in BioShock 2 - Definitive Guide

Using this guide, you can achieve both this achievement and this one:
BioShock 2TerritorialThe Territorial achievement in BioShock 2 worth 62 pointsWin a non-private match in each of the 6 new maps.

For this achievement, you will need 5 other players (according to psybOltOn you can do it with 4). Play on Adam Grab and have no one touch the little sister. While you wait for the game to end, you can work on trials to help towards the levelling achievements.

When the game ends with everyone on 0 points, the game will count it as a win for everyone. This will have to be done on all 6 maps which are:

Dionysus Park
Fighting McDonagh's
Fontaine Fisheries
Pauper's Drop
Siren Alley
Smuggler's Hideout

Once you have done this on all 6 maps, each person needs to take it in turns to win a game on one of the above maps. Once you get a untied win, the achievement will pop.

Unfortunately, everyone requires the DLC for the maps to come up so there is very little chance of that happening playing online normally. I would advise you to make or join a boosting session for this game. You can do so by looking to the right at the box that says "Achievement Gaming Sessions." If there are no sessions available, you can use this link to create one: https://www.trueachievements.com/creategamingsession.aspx?ga...

From: psybOltOn:

4 people are enough for the achievement. That makes 6 times 10 minutes draw, and 4 times 3 minutes win on ADAM grab.

The draws count as wins but he achievement needs an official win for it to actually unlock.

Is there a way to guarantee these maps? Like a dlc play list?

I followed this and got the "Territorial" achievement, but not the "Aqua" achievement... the same happened with another player in my group. What gives?

Top solution, thank you.
Please add to the solution that 4 people are enough for the achievement. That makes 6 times 10 minutes draw, and 4 times 3 minutes win on ADAM grab.

It says it has to be non-private so I would assume not.

ehm. you only have to play 5 times 10 minutes draw, and 4 times 3 minutes win on ADAM grab.
i cannot see any reason why i should play a map twice?!?! 1 for the draw and 1 for the win? no...so i would do the wins on any of those maps.

Is there any way to get this achievement similar to how you can get the Man About Town achievement? What I mean is that you can play offline games where you play by yourself on each map, win, then play one online game and it pops? Does anyone know if this works? I'm assuming if it works for the non-DLC maps, it should work for all maps and count the same.

okay so is the second section you say if the game finishes with everyone having 0 points it counts as a win, yet after your list of maps you say each person needs to take turns to win a game on the maps which is kinda opposite what you had previously said. Just checking for clarification.

To everyone still playing this, check out my solution for the Territorial achievement:
BioShock 2TerritorialThe Territorial achievement in BioShock 2 worth 62 pointsWin a non-private match in each of the 6 new maps.

As these achievements are stacked and very easy to get simultaneously. For your convenience I have quoted the solution here if you prefer scrolling over clicking.

If you play every map in a private match all by yourself and then win a match on any of the maps in a non private one, you can unlock the achievement.

Solo part
-So setup a private match
-ADAM grab as the gamemode as this takes little over 3 minutes
-Launch the game by yourself
-Grab the little sister until you win (3 min)
-Go down the list of all the DLC maps

Non solo part
-Play a NON-private match on a DLC map and win it
-AchievementS unlocked
this also unlocks this achievement:
BioShock 2 Aqua Incognita
The Aqua Incognita achievement in BioShock 2 worth 52 points
Play at least one non-private match on each downloadable content map.

Extra info
-If want to boost this set it up with 4 people and switch holding the little sister in "adam grab". You might get 'randoms' but you should be able to win very quickly anyway. If you abore that then set it up with 6, just make sure everyone did the Solo part first
-This also works for the regular maps, but you'll have to win on a regular map to unlock that achievement, it also requires you to apply the solo part on the regular maps first as well
UPDATE 26-2-2014:
You cannot go to dashboard or sign out or anything similar that breaks the session for this to work. So if you prepare this, make sure to stay active in the game without backing out.

An important addition to a solo part exploit.

You MUST remain in the MULTIPLAYER section after the solo part is done and before you're going into an actual non-private match. Switching to a singleplayer section will break the chain as well as leaving the game.

There are six new maps in the Rapture Metro DLC pack:

  • Dionysus Park
  • Fighting McDonagh's
  • Fontaine Fisheries
  • Pauper's Drop
  • Siren Alley
  • Smuggler's Hideout

At the moment, the DLC maps are included in the regular map rotation. This means if 1+ people in your lobby does not own the DLC, the new maps won't appear, and you will continue playing original maps. Everyone in your lobby must own the Rapture Metro DLC. A patch has been promised to fix the issue and introduce separate DLC playlists.

To unlock this achievement, you just have to play and complete a non-private match on each of the 6 maps once.

This is not as straight-forward as it may seem. For starters, the problem is not playing on the new maps as much as it is actually finding a match on one of them. There's no way to manually choose the maps you want to play or look for any DLC servers so to find the maps you want, everyone in the Lobby must have the new DLC installed and if even one person in the Lobby doesn't have the new DLC then you're stuck with the non-DLC maps instead. To make things worse, the new maps are mixed in with the non-DLC ones so you have to keep your fingers crossed that a DLC map appears and that everyone votes for it.

Further, to unlock this trophy you have to have played from the beginning to the end of the match on each new map. If you're not boosting, then you can marginally increase your odds in finding new maps by playing "Kill 'em Kindly" (if you have that DLC installed) or a small multiplayer game like "ADAM Grab". If you enter a new map, hen tit means everyone in the game has the DLC so I suggest you stick with them as then you'll get to play in most of the new maps. Don't forget to keep track of what maps you've played.

With that said, there are a total of 6 maps:
  1. Dionysus Park
  2. Fighting McDonagh's
  3. Fontaine Fisheries
  4. Pauper's Drop
  5. Siren Alley
  6. Smuggler's Hideout

See Territorial for some ways of getting both of these trophies with the minimum of hassle.
