How to unlock the Found Cohen's Room achievement in BioShock - Definitive Guide

WARNING: It is vital that you DO NOT kill Cohen when you meet him at Fort Frolic! Doing so will render this achievement unattainable (if he's dead, he won't be home to unlock the door for you). It will also kill your chances at getting the Weapon Specialist achievement, since the 9th Power to the People machine is locked in Cohen's room.

That said, when you arrive in Cohen's apartment in Olympus Heights, simply anger him by attacking the dancing splicers and he'll burst out of his locked room. Kill him and enter the room he came out of for the achievement and access to a Power to the People machine. Before you leave, take a quick snapshot of his dead body for the Irony achievement. At this point, you can grab the key off Cohen's corpse and take it back to Fort Frolic to open his locked box (next to his masterpiece) for some goodies if you want.

Grr. I hate it when people vote negative and don't give you a reason why.

Excellent solution. I forgot about using the Key at For Frolic.

I hate it when people complain about a negative vote when its no big deal.

@Ninjar Rabbit

Some of us spend a lot of time writing our solutions to actually help others, not just pad our count. If somebody doesn't like the solution, it's helpful to know why so I can either fix it or do a better job next time.

I can't enter Sander Cohen's room. I DIDN't kill him earlier. Door is locked when I enter apartment so disturbed the dancing splicers in the hope he would come out but it remains locked and he doesn't come out? Confused?

Where in the map Is this so called room? Is it that aparat room on top of the theater which is locked at the begining of the level?
I actually killed Cohen but still can't find any room in the map which is locked as you say

Nope, it's not in the theater. It's in the Olympus Heights apartments a few levels later in the game (like an hour or more after you first meet him). It only opens if you haven't killed Cohen earlier on in the theater. Does that help?

Aaah... yea you completely brighened it for me now.
I was thinking the room is in the mission "Fort Frolic" when you first meet Cohen.
Thank you for the support. The video is great. One +

Let me be positive and give you a thumbs up vote; then, I killed him since I hadnt read this, but what about uploading an earlier save from a moment before wasting him...sounds feasible?

I would think so!

OK, turns out I was wrong. The Medical Expert 2 tonic is actually your award for completing Cohen's masterpiece, not for using his key to unlock his mystery box. Inside the box is actually just $100, some incendiary bolts, and 3 splicer hearts.

And the Power to the People machine is inside Cohen's room, which can only be entered if you DON'T kill him after completing his masterpiece, as mentioned above.

Does this answer your question? It's been a while since I played the game, so the details are a bit foggy!

All credit goes to "AchievementPredator"

I must have spent about an hour searching for Olympus heights and managed to find this vid after searching many sites and forums.
The video shows the route to olympus heights as I havent seen a description of how to get there and also don't think the location is obvious.
Hope the vid helps

For this achievement make sure that at the end of Fort Frolic you do not kill him, let him live. If you kill him there and then you will not be able to get the achievement since he is needed to open the door of him room at Olympus Heights. Once you reach Olympus Heights you will see two splicers dancing, shoot them and Sander Cohen will appear. From there kill him, go into his room and also use the power to the people machine in his room to upgrade one of your firearms.

You must leave him be after finishing his masterpiece in Fort Frolic. Later in the game, during the Olympus Heights level, you will find his apartment. Kill the two dancing splicers inside and he will get angry and come out of his room. Simply run up the stairs and enter his room for the achievement.
