How to unlock the Fully Researched Nitro Splicer achievement in BioShock - Definitive Guide
To fill the progress bar as fast as possible, take pictures of the Nitro Splicers when they are fully in the frame, during an action shot, and when they are with other enemies.
You must fill the research bar FIVE times, with a bonus obtained each time you fill it. The bonuses for the Nitro Splicer are as follows:
1. Increased damage +
2. 15% chance a Nitro Splicer's grenade is a dud
3. Increased damage ++
4. 35% chance a Nitro Splicer's grenade is a dud
5. Increased damage +++
Another note I would mention is that you CAN take multiple pictures for smaller bonus's and to always take as many pictures as you can until the bonus's stop.
Also, if you kill them in the heat of the moment before taking any pictures you can take a picture of the corpse for a small research bonus, but only one picture can be taken of the corpse.
Positive vote.
These are the ones that throw explosives at you. You will need to fill the research bar four times before you are done.
This achievement is highly missable!
This Splicer is one of the subjects that you need to ensure that you complete as soon as possible due to the fact that they become rarer as the game progresses. You should be able to begin research on this Splicer in Neptune’s Bounty.
Refer to the “Research PhD” achievement for more information regarding research.
NOTE: Research progress will carry over on a New Game+ playthrough. If you could not complete all research during your first playthrough, you can continue from where you left off on a New Game+ playthrough.
