How to unlock the Fashionista achievement in Blade Kitten - Definitive Guide

EDIT: 01/17/13--Made a few corrections and changed the primary method to the superior one pointed out by MysticWeirdo.

If you're like me and you purchase all the Free Blades, HP upgrades, and Stamina upgrades before ever buying a costume (because the costumes don't improve the character's stats) you'll get to the end of the game and realize you still need to earn hundreds of thousands more hex to get this achievement!

So here is what is probably the fastest way to earn hex in this game (with gratitude and credit again going to MysticWeirdo):

First, you'll need to have played through the game until you've reached level 9 which is called Berserk. Load that level. Press "B" to skip the opening cutscene. Double-jump up and to the right to land on the edge of a floating vehicle. Then double-jump to the left to land on another one. Now jump to the left and run left along an awning to collect five green hex, then jump left onto a ledge and collect the fish-in-a-bag worth 10,000 hex.

Now press the "Back" button to bring up the menu with the Level Select option. Scroll up once to go to the bottom of the list and press "A" on Level Select. This will bring up the list of levels and Berserk should already be selected so press "A" again. The game will warn you that "Changing levels will reset current level checkpoints." but you keep your accumulated hex so just press "A" again to reload the level. Then just repeat the process until you have enough to buy everything in the game you don't yet have.

Now here is the alternate method that I originally had posted. MysticWeirdo's method is better because it's faster, more lucrative, and has one less cutscene and no enemies. Whereas the following method is only advantageous due to being available one level sooner (and thus could perhaps be used to acquire some upgrades earlier during your initial playthrough if you wanted) and provides an optional change of scenery in case for some reason you get tired of the other way after a while. Anyway the other method is as follows...

Load level 8 which is called Darque Nights. Press "B" to skip the opening cutscene. Go to the right and after a couple seconds you'll trigger another cutscene so press "B" to skip that one too. Continue to the right (pressing "X" to defeat the Darques along the way) following the trail of 9 yellow hex down a small flight of stone stairs then soon up another stone staircase. When you reach the flat part at the top of the stairs look up and you'll see a wooden beam connected to an awning that you can either double-jump up onto or jump and hang from the bottom of and crawl left and up on (if you can't quite see it try moving the right analog stick diagonally up and to the right). Go ahead and jump up there and run right and up the awning to get a fish-in-a-bag. Then, as with the 1st method, just keep reloading the level until you've accumulated as much as you want.

Once you get the hang of the 1st method you should be able to earn 10,000 hex about every 20 seconds or so. I would recommend making this one of the last achievements you get in this game as you will obviously be accumulating many thousands of hex throughout the subsequent levels if you have not yet played them. I hope this helps and if you have any corrections or tips to make this solution better please leave them in the comments. Thank you!

The Berserk level is a bit quicker getting the fish-in-bag. Skip the cutscene, double jump up to the right to a ship from where you start. Then double jump up to the left to another ship. Jump left to a green hex, run left through 4 more green hexes and jump up to the fish.

Starting with level 2 you can access the shop by hitting Back and choosing Weaponarium. There are 6 costumes for you to by here, scroll right past the weapons until you find them.

Total cost for all 6 is ~1.4 million hexes, so you'll have to save up for a while to get them all. Simply playing through the game and going for all the items will get you enough hex to buy all the items.

There are ten outfits in the game that can be unlocked for Kit, however only six of them can be bought from the Weaporium in the menu. Buying all six will require a total amount of 1,495,500 Hex. Here is a list of the outfits that can be purchased:

  • Flight Suit (15,000 Hex)
  • Pajamas (49,350 Hex)
  • Dress (148,050 Hex)
  • Justice (246,750 Hex)
  • Magasse (444,150 Hex)
  • Sun Dae (592,200 Hex)

Depending on how you spend your money you may or may not have to grind out the remaining cash to buy what you need. There is one spot which is an excellent area to grind for Hex in this game, and only takes 3-5 minutes per run, gaining you roughly 35,000 Hex for each run you do (this isn't including Hex that you find on the paths along the way, meaning that's a minimum). Simply follow these steps:

  1. Load up Level 6: Collaborator, head right and jump into the 'moat' of the castle. Drop down the wooden passage and head to the left to find 3,000 Hex. Spring back up and go to the right, flipping the switch. This drains the moat. Return back out to the moat and you'll have revealed a goldfish worth 10,000 Hex.
  2. Next, climb up to the castle walls, and from there, dash and jump over to a ledge (dash using and jump using ). Climp up and there's a portal. The area this leads you to is riddled with all sorts of Hex. There is roughly 15,000 Hex to be had here.
  3. There's one more step to nab you another load of Hex. In the same room as Step 3, go to the very bottom, and you'll see a trapdoor with bombs on the upside. Grab onto the door so Kit's weight pulls it down. These bombs will roll down and destroy an otherwise-unbreakable structure, allowing you to pass through. Follow the linear path (picking up small Hex groups along the way) and it'll open up to a room holding 8,000 Hex. Take the portal to the right.
  4. You'll have returned to the castle walls. Now that you've picked up the motherload, rush through the level to the next checkpoint (should only take a few moments) to have the game save what you've picked up. Load up another chapter and then reload Level 6: Collaborator so you'll start the level afresh, saving what you've already earned. Repeat this method as many times as necessary.

To buy all the costumes, you will need a lot of money, so I advise you to combine getting this trophy with Loot to Boot
