How to unlock the Blood and Iron achievement in Blasphemous 2 - Definitive Guide
This is supposed to be story related, but the achievement must be glitched because I beat the boss, but the achievement has not unlocked.
Because of the semi-random nature of the game and its order depending on your starting weapon I’ll go over the basics. This boss is located to the north-east of the map.
You’ll likely be using Ruego Al Alba as your weapon as it is the required tool for unlocking this area of the map.
I used the Scorched Lily rosary bead for extra resistance to fire, but you can go with your preference. The only other one I had at this stage was Scratched Lead Sphere which I didn’t think was as useful. I had no Alterpiece Favours unlocked at this stage through my own ignorance, but use ‘em if you got ‘em!
If you’ve bought any level 1 memories for your weapon make sure to use Blood Pact (RB+X) when it’s charged up as it does mega damage.
This fight has 3 phases.
The first phase is against against Lesmes (the fire dude). He has 4 basic attacks:
-making a singular fire column: stand to the side and punish.
-making multiple fire columns signified by glowing zones on the ground: you cannot stand to the side, but you can stand slightly further away to avoid the first fire column and still reach the boss to punish
-melee attack: dodge, direction doesn’t really matter. Go straight back in for a punish.
-mid air fire balls: boss will transform and float left and right with spinning fireballs around him. Just move and dodge.
Once you’re done he will nip off and in comes Infanta (the spiky girl) for phase 2. You can get some free damage as she spawns, just be ready to dodge away.
Infanta will spawn darts that spin around her making her after which she will fire them at you in a number of ways. Sometimes one at a time, sometimes in groups, sometimes all at once.
In my opinion the key to Infanta is patience and blocking. The projectiles can and should be blocked unless you are able to duck and jump over them to punish.
Note that you should not stand too close to Infanta or dodge through her as you will likely take damage from the darts surrounding her when they are present which is most of the time.
Occasionally the darts will rev up around her and she will charge you. This is a good punish window. I found if you position yourself just in from the side of the arena she will often spam this revving charge attack which can make this phase a doddle. Just jump over her, turn around and start wailing. Be ready to dodge her follow up, and pray that she revs again. Rinse repeat if possible.
She doesn’t have a massive health pool, and this phase will end before you finish her health bar.
Phase 3 involves dealing with both bosses at the same time, and is a real pain. I’ve read suggestions that you should deal with Infanta first, but I disagree. I focused on Lesmes, as I found Infanta to remain quite passive.
Whenever she starts firing darts at you, I would recommend turning to face them, and blocking for the parry as you will be invulnerable to Lesmes’ attacks and will often be pushed out of range of his fire columns.
I would discourage you from getting stuck at the sides of the arena whilst Lesmes is alive, as you will be having to turn left and right often, and that makes it challenging to parry the darts though it is very hectic and sometimes getting stuck in the corner is your only option.
Once Lesmes is defeated you can defeat Infanta the same way as above.
