How to unlock the Crossing Souls achievement in Blasphemous - Definitive Guide

*NOTE* You cannot get this achievement and the REBIRTH achievement in the same run.

In order to get this achievement you need to get Redento (The Barefooted Pilgrim) to his position in the Patio of Silent Steps while simultaneously progressing Cleofas' quest to get him to move to Archcathedral Rooftops.

To do this you can leave Redento alone until you have acquired all 3 "Mark of the Refuge" items. You get these items by progressing through the game to get the 3 masks needed to unlock the elevator in Archcathedral Rooftops.

Offer the 3 Marks of the Refuge to the NPC next to Cleofas in Mother of Mothers and he will move to Archcathedral Rooftops, just west of the first Prie Dieus checkpoint in the area.

Now progress Redento's quest until he is in the Patio of Silent steps and without speaking to him return to Cleofas. Speak to him once then leave and come back. He should jump from the rooftop with his body landing in front of Redento.

Return to the Patio of Silent Steps (you can jump off the roof if you have the Relic) and speak to Redento. After his dialogue the achievement should unlock.

I just found out that I locked myself from getting this achievement. If you talk to the guy in the church in Albero after meeting Cleofas he’ll give you the “Cord of the True Burying” which is needed for the Rebirth achievement. But if you have it in your inventory you the game forces you to give it to Cleofas.

So if you want this achievement than whatever you do DON’T TALK TO THE CHURCH GUY AFTER MEETING CLEOFAS!

I should also mention that you shouldn’t end the Lady’s suffering when prompt to try and get this achievement faster.
You have to give her the 3 refugee marks to get Cleofas on the roof top. If you just kill her he’ll end up in a jail cell and will kill himself in there if you don’t have the Cord item.

Easily missable, the "meeting" between these two is a bit one sided.

We must help Redento, the bound pilgrim, on his quest to the Archcathedral, but not before we have caused Cleofas, another NPC, to commit suicide. This is easily missed as Redento is readily found very early on, and will most likely naturely proceed too far before we have even met Cleofas. The best choice is to ignore Redento altogether until after Cleofas is dead, and then shepherd him to the meeting point as to not risk missing out.

In the Mother of Mothers area will be a room with Cleofas kneeling before a woman being whipped, Socorro. We must make him leave by freeing Socorro, offering three refuges by defeating the three anointed knights on the roofs above. After offering the third, speak with Cleofas and he will question what he should do now. It is very important that during this time you do not speak with Lvdovico at the church to the right of the Kissers of Wounds. He will speak of Cleofas and give you an item that will prevent his suicide if given, and unfortunately once you have it, the game wont let you speak with Cleofas and provoke his suicide if you are holding it, forcing you to save him.

He can next be found on the precipice of the rooftops above on the far left side. After speaking with him and leaving the screen, return to hear an unpleasant scream, setting the stage for Redento to find Cleofas's corpse.

If you somehow missed him, Redento is first found in the inverted bell of Jondo, after turning on the chain bridge from the left side and speaking to him, he will move to the Brotherhood of the Silent Sorrow on the left. Complete the maze through the door and knock down the wall, speak to him to move him to his next location. Next found in the Wasland of the Buried Churches (area before the big bridge) he will ask you to knock down the trees. If you had already done this, he will still be present, and will simply give you the next rosary bead he offers.

Finally he appears in the final room of the Patio of the Silent Steps. You will have already killed the monster here that he would have asked you to kill, so he will first thank you for that. Speak with him again! He will then comment on the very colorful corpse of Cleofas right in front of you both. The trophy should then pop.

As far as is known, there isn't a tight window to have them meet in, as long as Cleofas has died before you meet Redento in that room.

Missable

This trophy can be only be obtained at a very specific point during two questlines. You should get it if you follow the walkthrough written above. To get it, follow these steps:
  1. Help Redento in Jondo by activating the moving platforms.
  2. Help Redento in the Brotherhood of the Silent Sorrow by navigating the maze and destroying the wall to create a shortcut.
  3. Get all three Marks of Refuge in Archcathedral Rooftops and bring them to Socorro. Afterwards talk to Cleofás.
  4. Talk to Cleofás in Archcathedral Rooftops twice (have to leave the screen inbetween) to have him commit suicide.
  5. Help Redento in Wasteland of the Buried Churches by opening the shortcut.
  6. Speak to Redento in front of Cleofás corpse in Patio of the Silent Steps.

You cannot get this trophy if you:
  • Advance Redento's questline beyond the Patio of the Silent Steps before Cleofás commits suicide.
  • Put Socorro out of her misery.
  • Offered Socorro the three Marks of Refuge and obtained the Cord of True Burying from Ludovico before having Cleofás commit suicide.

Note that this trophy is at odds with Rebirth. If you want to get both trophies in one run, please refer to the Walkthrough above on how to do this.
